We are arriving from the US on Delta at 0840 and will be connecting to Rome on Lufthansa at 1235. When we clear customs, is there a recheck area? Or will we have to go outside security to the main ticket counter to check in?

Our plane leave at 9am from munich to FRA and then on to Las Vegas. How early do I need to arrive to check in.

2 options: 1) united from US to Munich, connecting to Lufthansa flight to Catania - 70 min layover - all booked on same United itinerary
2) AA from US to Munich, connecting to Air Berlin flight to Catania, 1:25 layover - booked on same AA itinerary. In either case, do we have to go through passport control before proceeding to gate, and in both cases do we have to change terminal? Is either enough time?

Yes, in both cases you will go through passport control and in both cases the flights are in the same terminal and both cases you would have enough time.
