Virgin Australia: Aircraft Fleet
Virgin Australia is one of the largest airlines in Australia, operating both domestic and international flights. The airline has a modern fleet of aircraft that includes Boeing and Airbus planes.
The airline has a total of 80 aircraft in its fleet. The majority of the fleet consists of Boeing planes, with 56 in total. This includes 737-800, 737 MAX 8, and 777-300ER models. The airline also has 14 Airbus A330-200 planes and 10 Fokker 100 planes.
Virgin Australia has made significant deals regarding its aircraft fleet in recent years. In 2018, the airline announced that it had ordered 23 Boeing 737 MAX planes, which are more fuel-efficient and have a longer range than previous models. However, following the grounding of the 737 MAX planes worldwide, Virgin Australia has since canceled its order for these planes.
The airline has also announced plans to retire its entire fleet of Boeing 777 planes by the end of 2021. This is part of the airline's strategy to simplify its fleet and focus on more fuel-efficient planes.
