Online check-in & baggage payment You have the option of checking in via Web, Fast Check-in; Telecheck-in & Mobile check-in. For flights within the Schengen area and flights to/fro London, you can print out your boarding pass at home or pick it up at the Fast Checkin machines at the Airport, up to 2 hrs prior to scheduled departure. For domestic fghts departing from major Italian airports, you receive the e-boarding card with an SMS directly on your cellphone. Exception: travelers with infants or children must checkin at the airport.
Carry-on Baggage Rules & Fees Your carry-on bag cannot exceed 55x35x25cm (incl. handles, pockets & wheels) and 8 kg. Additionally you are allowed to take onboard one personal item (briefcase, handbag, assistive devices or collapsible stroller, any of which need to be checked in, labeled & stowed in the aircraft's cargo hold if there is no available space onboard). Your carry-on pieces need to fit either under your seat or into the overhead bin.
Checked Baggage Rules & Fees 1. Boxes may be accepted if name, if they include passenger's address & phone number, and if wrapped in cellophane. 2. Maximum weight for each checked-in bag is 23kg (from Brazil & back: two bags at 32kg/each). Boxes, crates, packages or pieces of baggage exceeding the limit must be sent as freight. 3. Baggage over the free baggage allowance is charged as excess baggage. 4. Note that children 2-11 years get adult allowance; infants up to 23 months get 10kg. This applies to all destinations. 5. When a flight is operated by code-share on another company's plane, the operating carrier's regulation as to baggage apply. 6. Excess charges apply if baggage exceeds linear dimensions, weight and number above allowance. Those charges need to be paid at Alitalia's ticket desk at the airport and need to be paid in applicable currencies: EUR from Europe & Japan, US$ from USA & South America, CAD from Canada.
