Birmingham-UK Airport (BHX) Terminal Map
Main Terminal / Concourses at Birmingham-UK BHX Airport
Birmingham Airport opened its integrated terminal in May 2011 ( merging former terminals 1 & 2 with the connected Millenium Building). The merging of both Terminals is to improve passenger flow, allow for more efficiency, create a larger centralized passenger security check area, an extened meeters & greeters arrivals point, and improved shopping and eating facilities. Four security control rooms were merged into one and the Information desk closed.
The terminal also connnects via Air-Rail Link to the 'Birmingham International Rail Station & Interchange'.
The new three-storey International Pier of Terminal 1, measuring 240 by 24 meters, provides airbridges to wide-bodied aircraft, with 13 spaces for smaller ones, and handles departing passengers on the top level, arriving passengers on level 2, and has airline offices on the ground floor; it also offers an Emirate lounge. A new satellite pier is to be built north of the terminals.
Services and amenities inside the termials: Aside from a good selection of retail shops & food & drink establishments, it has rental car desks, 4 Travelex booths in T1, automated passport gates, special assistance, hotel reservation desk and 2 duty-free shops (and recently opened a new tax & duty-free store), banking and business facilities, internet access, and so much more.
Note that luggage trolleys are now non-refundable at 2 EUR.
