YWG Airport Overview
Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport YWG is a multi-modal, 24/7, transportation hub, located in the geographical center of North America and close to downtown Winnipeg, the provincial capital of Manitoba in central Canada.
Many scheduled and charter airlines service the airport offering nonstop flights to over 25 Canadian destinations, as well as several U.S. and EU destinations.
The compact airport terminal building, constructed in the early 1960s, is waiting to be replaced by a new, state-of-the-art passengers terminal scheduled for completion 2009/10. As part of the redevelopment project a new parking terminal is also in the works. To help cover the significant costs, the airport charges a consolidated Airport Improvement Fee and Terminal Renewal Fee of $15. As with most Canadian airports, passengers are charged the fee upon purchase of the airline tickets.
Until 2010, YWG Airport will be transformed, not only in the physical sense, but also in the way it serves its community. The airport redevelopment will be adaptable to changing markets, regulatory and security environments.
This site will be monitoring its progress and make changes and additions as they become available.
