Charlottesville CHO Airport (CHO) - f
ormerly known as Albermarle Airport and now using its airport code also as its name - serves the city of Charlottesville and its surrounding areas in the State of Virginia. It is located in one of Virginia's economically strong regions with a corporate-heavy support base,contributing to the Airport's success, but also benefits considerably from the area's tourism business.
CHO Airport is 8 miles north of the city of Charlottesville and only a mile west of Route 29 on Airport Road. The University of Virginia is 10 miles from the Airport..
With 593,000 passengers in 2016, Cho Airport is served by a number of major airlines offering direct flights to some major U.S. city hubs, with connections around the globe.
- CHO Airport opens at 3:30am and urges passengers to arrive 90 minutes before their scheduled flights, particularly during peak hours of 5am-7am. Baggage needs to be checked at least 30 minutes prior to departure. Airline counters open at 4:15am.

Charlottesville Cho Airport has one passenger terminal
* is fully accessible, offering free internet access, the latest in electronic ticketing, check-in & boarding passes in the ticketing wing, and on-site rental cars. A remote registration kiosk is for TSA-approved Registered Traveler Program participants. The baggage claim area houses rental car counters and hotel courtesy shuttle phone board. A conference room is available weekdays 8am-4:30pm. ATMs are in the ticketing area and at lower level concourse, post-security.

The recently completed renovation & expansion project involved the newly renovated semi-circle ground level, which shows entry to: 'Ticketing" at right, 'Flights /all gates' at center, and 'Baggage /Ground Transport, Vending' at left. The new TSA screening area is now in place.

Future Airport Developments:
The ongoing runway extension is to take 'several years'. Also bids for a pedestrian access ramp and canopy systems were published by the Airport in Spring 2017.
