Main Terminal / Concourses at Chicago Midway MDW Airport
Chicago Midway Airport has one main passenger terminal consisting of a Lower Level - the baggage level, and an Upper Level - the ticketing level, leading to the triangle-shaped food court ‘Midway Boulevard’ with food & drink and retail concessions, and an information desk in the center. At the tips of the triangle are Concourse A, B & C.
Getting around:
1. The Terminal can be reached from downtown Chicago by the most efficient mode of transportation, the Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) Orange Line, taking 20-30 minutes. Most ground transportation access points are at the main entrance outside of the passenger terminal.
2. Concourses A, B & C can be reached on foot from the food court called 'Midway Blvd.' on the upper level of the terminal
3. Airport to Airport connections (ORD to MDW) - The Omega Airport Shuttle (tel. 773-734-6600; press O) offers hourly service between O'Hare International and Midway Airports from 7am-10p.m. Allow at least 1 hour for travel time. Schedules are located in information booths at each airport or on the Omega Web site. Pickup at Midway Airport is located at LL Door 3. The one-way fare between O'Hare International and Midway Airport is around $17.
4. International Arrivals: Unless you have gone through US customs clearance by participating airports in Canada and the Caribbean, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes).
Concourse A of Midway Airport serves for AirTran, Delta, Frontier, Charters (Jet Purple Airways), Porter, Southwest & Volaris - with gates A1-19 and a separate gateway to gates A4A & A4B. A currency exchange is at gate A1. Food & drink establishments & shops are disbursed.
Concourse B of Midway Airport also serves Southwest with gates B1-26, with food & drink establishments & shops disbursed.
(Concourse C of Midway Airport with gates C1-C3 - opposite of entrance to Concourse A - and to the left of the Concourse B entrance, is presently not in use, but may be used for charters & Jet Purple Airways). USO facilities are listed at Conccourse C (tel. 773-582-5852).
Amenities and services inside the terminal include information kiosks, internet access, the Midway Boulevard housing food & drink establishments, gift and news shops (between the main terminal and its concourses), ATMs a business center, cash dispensers, police kiosks, a USO facility, and an interfaith chapel. Services for disabled travelers and for treating medical emergencies are also available. Concourse A houses the Battle of Midway Memorial and an SBD dauntless dive bomber suspended from the ceiling.
Midway has a Visual Paging System - displaying text messages on Flight Information Display System (FIDS) monitors throughout the terminal, available 24/7. Free visual paging service can be reached at tel. 773-848-9660 or 9661 (TTY), which will then appear on the FIDS monitors.
