Edinburgh (EDI) Airport

Change Airport

  • EDI Airport Overview
Edinburgh International Airport EDI, located outside of Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh, is one of the United Kingdom’s fastest-growing airports, currently serving 9.1 million passengers a year. It is also a transatlantic gateway, offering flights to New York and Toronto, Canada.

Presently over forty airlines serve EDI Airport with over one hundred domestic and international destinations.

Edinburgh International, having celebrated its 30-year anniversary in 2007, is hard at work keeping up with the growing demand for more facilities due to considerable increase in passengers over the last decade. In 2004 it opened a multi-storey car park with 2,000 spaces, and late 2006 added a new terminal extension. A 10-year masterplan was published in 2006 and accordingly, further improvements have been made and will be made along the guidelines of this plan. Construction for a tram connection to the City Center is on the way and should be in operation by 2011.

    GETTING TO THE AIRPORT:
Edinburgh Airport is about eight miles west of the City Center. The entrance is reached from the A8 Glasgow Road, and is close to the M8 and M9 motorways. The A8 airport junction is between the Gogar and Newbridge roundabouts. If approaching from Edinburgh, join the A8 from the city bypass and head towards Glasgow. If coming from the north or west, join the A8 at the Newbridge roundabout and head towards Edinburgh, then follow signs for the airport. The postcode to use for satellite navigation systems is EH12 9DN.
