GRR Airport Overview
Gerald Ford International Airport GRR is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is acccessible via Interstate Hwys. 96 & 196, US Hwy 131 and M-37. The Airport was formerly known as the Kent County International Airport and renamed in 1999 to honor Gerald R. Ford, the 38th President of the United States and U.S. Congressman representing western Michigan for almost three decades. Gerald Ford Airport is served by major airlines offering a host of nonstop destinations to major US cities, including a number of daily departures to Chicago-O’Hare. Midwest Airlines ticket counter operations have been relocated to the American Eagle ticket counter in the west ticketing wing.
The mezzanine level of the passenger terminal features a popular observation deck, where you can watch planes taxing to and from their gates. Amenities inside the passenger terminal offer business services withWiFi access and room rental, food and shop concessions, a visitor information desk, a Kids Port and five rental car agencies.
If you are picking up an arriving passenger, use the free Cell Phone Lot--stay with your vehicle until your party collected luggage and calls you for pickup at the curb.
Available parking options are Short-term, Long-term and Express Parking (Long-term & Express require you to take the free shuttle bus). When exiting, you can use the credit/debit card lane as an alternative. Valet parking is available--just pull up to the east end of the terminal, an attendant will be there.
To get from the Airport to your destination, you have the option of taking the Metro Cab, order a limo, or the Rapid Bus #17 stopping at the Airport. Greyhound buses depart from downtown. Free hotel/motel shutles are also available. The transportation center inside the passenger terminal is located in the baggage claim area, near the informaton desk.
