HAM Airport Overview
Hamburg Airport HAM located 8.5 km from the center of the Free City of Hamburg, north Germany, and is situated slightly south between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
The airport is new and spectacular and includes the new Airport Plaza, framed by the two state-of-the-art Passengers Terminals 1 and 2; a dynamic parking guidance system; wide access roads, and additional parking spaces. A connection to the S-Bahn (subway) rapid transport system is in place. Passengers using the service--which starts from Hamburg Central Railway Station and runs at 10-minute intervals--will have a journey time of just 25 minutes to the terminals. Also by autumn 2009 the Radisson deluxe hotel will open, with 266 rooms and within walking distance of the terminals.
Hamburg Airport is served by about 60 airlines with non-stop flights to more than 120 destinations worldwide. The largest airlines in terms of passenger count are Lufthansa, Air Berlin, TUIfly, Condor, Germanwings and Air France.
Main Terminal / Concourses at Hamburg HAM Airport Terminals 2, Air Plaza and Terminal 1 are all linked together. There is a separate Terminal Building called Tango, used for events/meetings.
All take-offs and landings are concentrated on Terminals 1 and 2. Terminal 2 is mainly used by Lufthansa, Germanwings and their Star Alliance partners. Other airlines such as Air Berlin, British Airways, Emirates, Continental and Air France are based in Terminal 1.
