The terminal is divided into two main sections: gates 11–34 serve domestic and Schengen-area European flights, while gates 34–55 cater to long-haul and non-Schengen European flights. Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
The airport has security checkpoints located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In Terminal 1, the security checkpoint is located on the second floor, near the check-in counters. In Terminal 2, the security checkpoint is located on the ground floor, near the entrance to the terminal. Both checkpoints are easily accessible and well-signed, so passengers can easily find them.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
Passengers who want to get through security quickly can take advantage of the Fast Track lanes at HEL. These lanes are available to passengers who have purchased a Fast Track ticket or who are traveling in business class. The Fast Track lanes are located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and are clearly marked with signs. In Terminal 1, the Fast Track lane is located next to the security checkpoint on the second floor. In Terminal 2, the Fast Track lane is located next to the security checkpoint on the ground floor.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
Passport and immigration control at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In Terminal 1, passport control is located on the second floor, near the departure gates. In Terminal 2, passport control is located on the ground floor, near the baggage claim area. Immigration control is located in the same areas as passport control. The airport has implemented automated passport control kiosks to speed up the process for passengers arriving from outside the Schengen area. These kiosks are available in both terminals and can be used by passengers who have an electronic passport.

Baggage Claim Areas
HEL Airport has several baggage claim areas located in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The baggage claim areas are easily accessible from the arrival gates and are clearly marked with signs. Passengers are advised to check the flight information displays to find out which baggage claim area their luggage will be available at. Once at the baggage claim area, passengers can collect their luggage from the conveyor belts. It is important to ensure that the luggage collected belongs to the passenger before leaving the baggage claim area.
