Lisbon Portela Airport LIS is located 7 km from the Castle of Sao Jorge in Portugal's capital city Lisbon, and is accessible from the City's  '2a Circular / Segunda Circular'.  The Airport  is the busiest and most important airport of Portugal. With well over 13 million passengers a year and two runways, the Airport is a hub for SATA International, TAP Portugal, and is also served by other domestic & international airlines offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe, as well as by seasonal charters.
In recent years Lisbon Airport has not only added a new terminal, but also refurbished the baggage claim in Terminal 1, added a new cargo facility, fuelstorage, a North Concourse ('pier') & boarding lounge, north bus gate & baggage claim, expansion of South Concourse, departure lounge renovation, underground station, and more.

Lisbon Airport has two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 is for International Departures and International and Domestic Arrivals, while Terminal 2 is for Domestic Departures to Faro, Oporto, Braganca, Vila Real, Madeira and the Azores only. A free shuttle bus connects both terminals at their respective Departure areas.
Rental car counters are located in the atrium of the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 1. 
You can get from T1 to T2 via a free shuttle service. As added bonus, those drivers who drop off a passenger can do so in front of the terminal - no need to park.  

Lisbon Airport offers four parking choices, all of which can be reached via E01 (Segunda Rua Circular - Exit 3): Note that at present all parking facilities are in Terminal 1's vicinity only - P1, P2, P3 and PLD:
(a) P1 is for short-term covered parking across from the Departures Hall; (b) P2 is for short- and medium-term at covered parking, one minute from the Arrivals Hall; (c) P3 is for medium & long-term open-air parking, one minute from the Arrivals or Departures Hall; (d) PLD is for long-term open-air parking, a five-minute walk from Arrivals or Departes Hall.

Directions to the Airport: Getting to the Airport from the '2a Circular / Segunda Circ ular', which is Lisbon's ring road: (a) from the North, take motorway A1 to 2a Circular; (b) from the Torres Vedras area take A8 to CRIL (IC-17) to 2a Circular; (c) from the South (crossing the Tagus River) take the Vasco da Gama Bridge to 2a Circular; or take the 25 de Abril Bridge to the Eixo Norte/Sul to 2a Circular; (d) from Cascais/Estoril take the A5 to the CRIL (IC-17) t 2a Circular; or (e) take IC-19 to 2a Circular (entering from south), or the IC-19 to the IC-17 to 2a Circular (entering from the north.

To get from the Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi, or the 96 Aeroshuttle bus connecting to the Metro Station Gare do Oriente:
(a) the Aerobus 91 (operated by Carris) runs between the Airport and the city center every 20 mins, 7:45am-8:15pm. Tickets available onboard at 3.50 EU.  The Aeroshuttle 96 (tel. 351 213 582 334)  makes daily runs every half hr, 7am-11pm, between: Gare Oriente, Airort, Entrecmpos, Sete Rios & Praca de Espanha. Tickets available onboard at 3.50 EU.
(b) Other Carris buses stopping at the Airport have the following end destinations: Bus 5 to Areeiro; 22 to Marques de Pombal; 44 & 45 to Cais do Sodre; & 83 to Amoreiras. Tickets availalbe onboard at 1.35 EU.
(c) Rede Nacional de Expressos operates throughout the country (tel. +351 707 223 344).
(d) The Lisbon Metro's Gare de Oriente station is 15 mins from the Airport. The fare is 0.75 EU.

Lisbon, the City of Seven Hills, is one of Europe's most splendid and historical Cities and certainly worth a visit.
