Terminal Layout at Barajas International Airport, Terminal details, Amenities & Services (including VIP lounges & Airline information desks for transfer passengers):
Madrid Barajas International Airport has four passenger terminals -T1, T2, T3 & separate T4, situated 2 km northwest of them and connected by underground train. T4 has a Satellite building T4S, located about 1 km east of it .
(a) The 3-level Terminals T1, T2 & T3 are adjacent to each other - level 0 is the Arrivals level, level 1 is the Departure level with access to gates A1 to E89, and level 2 houses offices and some services.
(b) The separate large new Terminal 4, consisting of a main terminal T4 and a satellite T4S served by underground train.
(c) Free Shuttle buses serve all four terminals (6:30am-11:30pm every 5 mins; 11:30pm-1:50am every 20 mins; 1:50am-6:30am every 40 mins). Buses stop at level 1 of T1 & T3 and on the ground level of T4 & T2.
(d) The underground Metro line 8 subway stops at all terminals and connects to the Nuevos Ministerios station in Central Madrid - taking 12-15 mins.
(e) At Terminal 4, you can catch the suburban train line to Chamartin, Nuevos Ministerios, Atocha and Principe Pio.
Terminal 1 of MAD is for inter-continental and some European flights; it has boarding gates A, B & C.
Departing passengers at T1: The Departures lobby on level 1 has check-in facilities.
.Thereafter go through security check on the same level and proceed to your departure gate.
Terminal 2 of MAD is mostly for European flights (with some intercontinental flights) - it also houses the Metro line 8 station. T2 offers Fast Track service for: first- & business-class passengers of Aegean, Air Europa, Air France, Alitalia, KLM, SAS and TAP Portugal, and to cardholders of of Raesa, Multiservicios Aeroportuarios and AVIP airport car park. It has boarding gates C& D.
Departing passengers at T2: The Departures lobby on level 2 has check-in facilities; thereafter go to level 1 for security check and proceed to your gate.
Terminal 3 of MAD is reserved for flights between Madrid & Barcelona.
Departing passengers at T3: The ground level of T3 has check-in desks 610-617 with boarding zone F, and has on level 1 check-in desks 600-603 with boarding zone E. HOWEVER, at present, check-in counters are closed.
Terminal 4, with five levels and Satellite T4S, serves Iberia Airlines, its franchise Air Nostrum and all OneWorld partner airlines. It offers Fast Track service for first- & business-class passengers of Air Nostrum, American Airlines, British Airways, Emirates, Iberia, Iberia Express and Qatar Airways, and cardholders of Raesa, Multiservicios Aeroportuarios & AVIP Airport Carpark. It has boarding gates H, J& K.
The underground, automated driverless train connects to the T4S satellite every 5 mins on average.
Departing Passengers at T4, after security check: (a) if your boarding gate is either in zones H, J or K (the gates used for domestic & Schengen destinations, and Iberia's London & Dublin flights) - go to to level 1; (b) if your boarding gate is either in zones R, S or U - turn left, go down to level 2 & take the underground train to T4S, taking 3 mins. (c) At T4S, if your boarding zone is M (domestic or Schengen), proceed to proceed to the ground level (P0); if our boarding zone is either R, S or U (non-Schengen destinations or non-EU countries) go trough the passpot control on P-1 and thereafter to P1.
NOTE: The Iberia Air Shuttle is exclusively situated at the left end of level 2.
Arriving passengers at T4 should proceed to baggage reclaim 10 on level 1.
Satellite Building T4S, located between the runways, has over 26 aircraft stands with air-bridge access. An automated driverless train runs underground (level P-2) between T4 and T4S every two minutes at peak hours, with 30-second stops at each station.
Arriving passengers at T4S need to follow one of the following five scenarios:
1. If arriving at T4S from a domestic or Schengen country, go down to level P-2 and take the train to the Main Terminal T4 (3 mins); proceed to baggage reclaim 10 on the ground level.
2. If arriving at T4S via airbridge from a non-Schengen or non-EU country, go to level 2 and through passport control and Customs clearance; proceed down to level P-2 for the underground train to the main terminal T4, andgo to baggage claim 11 on the gound level.
3. If arriving at T4S from a non-Schengen or non-EU country, without direct access to main terminal by airbridge, the bus takes you to Level P0 where you go through passport control and customs clearance. Thereafter proceed to level P-2 and take the train to the main terminal; go to baggage reclaim 11 on T4's ground level.
4. If arriving at T4S from a non-Schengen EU country, go to P2 and through passport control; then go to level P-2 & board the train; at T4, go to baggage reclaim 10 on the ground level.
