Sangster International Airport MBJ is located in the northwestern part of the Caribbean Island of Jamaica (about 550 miles south of Florida), at Montego Bay, and is a tourist mecca for Europeans and North Americans who flock to its beautiful beaches and scenic interior. The airport is within easy driving distance of the cruise ports at Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, as well as the popular town of Negril. With one runway and approx. 3.5 million passengers a year, Sangster Airport is host to regular, low-cost and charter airlines, offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe.
Sangster International has one passenger terminal with two levels, the ground floor and the first floor. The ground floor offers outside a pickup/dropoff area and the taxi stand. Its pre-security area has the Departure/check-in area, and its post-security area has outside a meeting point, dropoff/pickup area and ground transportation; inside the post-security area is the arivals corridor, Information and rental car desks, internet access, baggage claim area and the departure lounge.
The first floor of the passenger terminal is a secured area, which has at its center Immigration and the In-Transit lounge and to the left two departure lounges with gates 1 to 6, and to the right three departure lounges with gates 8 through 19. This level offers a Customer Service counter and three food services.
Short- and long-term parking is available across from the passenger terminal.
To get from the Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi or a hotel shuttle: Rental car desks are in the Arrivals Hall at Ground Transportation, and include Hertz, Budget, Avis Jamaica, Sunbird & Champagne rental car agencies.
Taxis are available from two authorized companies: JUTA (876-952-0813) an JCAL (876-952-7574).
For hotel shuttles, go to the hotel lounges for 7 of the larger hotels, located inside the Arrivals Hall, Ground Transportation.
