Syracuse Hancock International Airport SYR
serves central New York State and its surrounding counties. It may be noted that during the winter months when snow averages 114 inches, its vast snow removal equipment, including the world's largest snowplow, allow the Airport to have fewer flight delays. SYR is operated by SRAA (Syracuse Regional Airport Authority).
SYR Airport is near the town of Mattydale, and only 4.6 miles northeast of the city of Syracuse, situated in Onondaga County, and is within three miles of intersecting Interstate Hwys 81 and 90 (the New York Throughway) - with direct access to Airport parking, curbside driving lanes for quick drop off/pick up and curbside baggage check-in.
With 1.9M passengers in 2016, and two long runways, Syracuse Hancock Airport is served by major airlines offering nonstop flights to destinations in the U.S. and Canada, with convenient connecting flights.
It is requested by the Airport that passengers contact their airline as to flight cancelations.
Also, please arrive at the check-in counters no later than 90 minutes prior to your scheduled departure.
The on-Airport Inn-Best Western (315-455-7362) is within walking distance of the terminal complex and has its own parking facility.
Hancock International Airport has one passenger terminal.
Present and future Airport developments:
Recently Federal and Local funding in the amount of $45.1M was pledged towards the Airport's improvement projects, which are to completely transform terminal interior & exterior (removal of current canopy drop-off area in front of the terminal for more sunlight in the passenger exchange area, a glass pedestiran bridge enabling passengers to skip ticket hall, and an open design in the new Grand Hall. Other improvements will involve repavement of Colonel Eileen Collins Blvd.; traffic lane reconfiguration between terminal & garage; new canopy replacement; new Grand Hall with expanded concessions, renovated restrooms and new ticket counters.
