Boise BOI Airport Overview

Boise Airport BOI, situated outside the capital city of Idaho, and accessible via Interstate 84, is located in the southwestern corner of the state. Several years ago increasing passenger volume outgrew its original capacity. The Airport has two parallel runways, 10,000 and 9,763 feet in length and is served by major airlines, as well as low-cost carriers. United, which traces its beginnings to Boise, is the only airline to have served Boise airport continuously since 1933. BOI airport offers many nonstop flights to cities primarily in the Western and Midwestern regions of the U.S., affording connections worldwide.

The passenger teminal at Boise Airport consists of three levels, with Concourse C on the first level and Concourse B on the second level.  The third level is occupied by Airport, Police & TSA offices, as well as the Snake River Conference Center. The first floor also houses desks for seven on-airport rental car agencies.

Parking options are as follows: Across from the passenger terminal is the short-term lot, the parking garage and the long-term lot (Garage and long-term lot are accessible via Airport Road). The rental car lot is right next to the terminal. Disabled parkers can use the short-term lot or the garage at long-term rates.

Ground Transportation services are located on the lower level roadway outside baggage claim--cross to the median and look for the color coded curbs: taxis--black; courtesy shuttles--green; revenue shuttles--blue; buses--purple. Valley Ride offers regional public transportation for Ada and Canyon counties (208-846-8547); the Sun Valley Express offers transportation to Sun Valley and Tamarack (on first floor baggage claim--Tel: 1-877-622-8267) and Greyhound, located 1212 W. Bannock (208-343-3681).

NOTE: The Economy Parking Lot, located at Orchard and Victory roads, will be closed indefinitely to accommodate two major construction projects--the realignment of the Orchard overpass at I-84 and the planned Economy Lot expansion. The Vista Avenue Interchange reconstruction has begun and should be completed by September 2010, while Orchard Interchange reconstruction is scheduled to open in spring 2010. On I-84 between Cole Road and Broadway Avenue, two lanes in each direction will be added. Construction is planned through December 2011.<

Boise is called the City of Trees and boasts one-of-a-kind museums and urban parks, a river flowing through the heart of the city with a 25-mile river front greenbelt. Among the many unique sites to visit are the Basque Museum and Cultural Center, Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, Idaho Black History Museum and the World Center for Birds of Prey. Visitors can enjoy nearby mountains, desert sand dunes, canyons and whitewater rafting rivers.
