Chicago Rockford International Airport RFD is only 68 miles northwest of Chicago and can serve as a welcome alternative to major Chicago airport hassles. RFD is home to the second-largest air hub sorting facility in United Parcel Service's system. DHL and BAX Global have smaller facilities at RFD. Right on airport premises is the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a world leader in aviation and aerospace education.

The Airport is located 4 miles south of the city of Rockford, in the very northern part of Illinois, close to the Wisconsin border, and near to Interstate Hwy I-39 & US 20, with access to I-90 & US 51.

With two long runways and an estimated 183,400 passengers in 2011, Chicago Rockford Airport focuses on providing vacation charters to popular non-stop seasonal destination, but has also scheduled non-stop service available. Chicago Rockford Airport has one passenger terminal with arrivals and departures levels.  Express lanes to the terminal make for easy pickup/dropoff and baggage assistance is available there.

All parking at the airport is free.

To get to from Chicago Rockford Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi or use public transportation: The bus stop is directly in front of the terminal, at the east end of the service drive. Take the South Main Bus 7 to the RMTD Transfer Center on West State Street, then switch to the East State Bus 11 and get off at the Greyhound/Clock Tower stop (available only Mon-Sat).
