With an estimated 700K passengers annually, and with three runways, SBA Airport is served by major airlines offering direct flights to hub airports throughout the US, with worldwide connections.
NOTE: Santa Barabara's Independent newsletter in Oct. 2016 states that passenger numbers and flights had declined by 26 percent due to the fact that airfares are more expensive than those at Los Angeles Airport - causing area locals to choose LAX instead. While the 60,000 sq.foot new terminal has lost half of its passenger count since opening - currently much endeavor is ongoing to reverse this situation.
The new passenger terminal at Santa Barbara Airport opened in 2013 - called the 'John Rickard Terminal', an environmentally-friendly 'green building' with LEED rating - offering more efficient airline check-ins, baggage claim are, centralized services, more comfortable seating areas, improved concessions, and great ambiance.
Ground level 1 - the Check-in and Arrivals level - houses ticketing desks are at the right and baggage claim at left, the center leads elevators/excalators to level 2 and the observation terrace.
Level 2 - the Departures level - houses the security checkpoint, a restaurant,& gift shop in the boarding area and airline gates 1 - 5.
Amenities and services inside the passenger terminal are free Wi-Fi access, an Ambassador program (volunteers help you get around the airport and answer inquiries), self-check-in kiosks, food & drink and reail concessions, ATM machines, vending machines, and pay-on-foot station.
