Southwest Florida RSW Airport Overview

Southwest Florida International Airport RSW serves southwest Florida's communities of Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, Charlotte Harbor, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, the Everglades & Naples.  Itis operated by the Lee County Port Authority.  All the region's attractions are within a short driving distance of the Airport. RSW is a popular vacation destination for both American and international travelers. Visitors can go from baggage claim to beach in under 30 minutes. 

The Airport is located southeast of Fort Myers, in Lee County, on Florida’s subtropical Gulf Coasts, and is close to Interstate Hwy 75 and US Route 41.

With one 12,000 feet runway (a 9,100 foot parallel runway is to be added) and an estimated 7.4 million passengers in 2012, Southwest Florida Airport is served by a host of major and minor airlines offering direct flights throughout North America and international flights to Canada and overseas, with connecting flights to all points of the world.  Flights to Cuba are currently available under certain restrictions.
NOTE: WestJet offers Saturday flighs to Ottawa (YOW), Canada, as of 12/22/12.

NOTE: 
Arrive at the Airport no later than 2 hrs prior to a scheduled domestic flight, and 3 hrs prior to an international flight!

The Midfield Terminal Complex at Southwest Florida International consists of a two-level passenger terminal with Concourses B, C & D.

Other parking options at Southwest Florida International include a cell phone lot, parking garage and long-term parking lot. (Details are in the parking section.)

The rental car service center at RSW Airport is located on the ground level of the Parking Garage across from the terminal's baggage claim area. Rental car return is on the lower level of the garage.  However, off-site rental car agencies are also available and provide their own shuttle service, reached by walking around the end of the garage and around the side, where you can use the phone at the shelter for pickup.

To get from Southwest Florida International Airport to your destination you can rent a car, take a taxi or limo, or one of the shared-ride shuttles available on a pre-arranged basis--a list of such providers is located near the baggage claim area.  A large number of hotels also provice shuttle service - call your hotel directly.
Public transportation is available from LeeTran Bus 50 serve the Airport and runs between 7am-9pm, offering rides to a transfer point located at Daniels Pkwy & US 41. Connections are available from that point to the remainder of LeeTran's public transportation routes. For more information visit rideleetran.com.

Future Airport Developments:  Construction on Apron & taxiway expansion project has recently started and is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
