Southwest Georgia Regional ABY Airport is a small airport located 3 miles west of the central business district of Albany, in Dougherty County, Georgia, and approximately 180 miles south of Atlanta. Albany is the home of the Darton and LaGrange Colleges, as well as the Marine Corps Logistics Base. Atlantic Southeast Airlines, operating as Delta Connection, offers daily flights to Atlanta.
For domestic travelers it is advised to pack light and get to the airport early. For the first flight in the morning, arrive at the terminal no later than 4:30 a.m. Airline schedules will not be altered for the additional security measures--plan ahead to be at the airport at least 90 minutes before your scheduled flight--and if you travel during the holidays, arrive 2 hours ahead. Delta Connection closes the boarding door 10 minutes prior to its scheduled flight to ensure better on-time performance. The baggage cut-off is 30 minutes prior to the scheduled flight, but checking in that late does not guarantee that your checked luggage will make it on the airplane. It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure that there will be enough time to check all baggage and passengers before flight time. When picking up or dropping off passengers use the public parking lot, where the first 30 minutes are free. Unattended vehicles will be ticketed or towed.
The passenger terminal houses the Blue Skies Café for snacks, drinks (incl. beer). Ample parking is available, as well as four rental car agencies. Landmark Aviation is the Fixed Base Operator for private aircraft (229) 434-8787.
