Venice VCE Airport Overview


Venice Marco Polo Airport VCE, is located in Tessera on the Italian mainland bordering the northeast coast of the Adriatic Sea at the Gulf of Venice, and is 8 km north of the city of Venicef Venice, which is surrounded by the Laguna Venata and is connected via the causeway Ponte de la Liberta (SR11) to the main land. On the mainland the airport can be reached via two main arteries, the A27 and the SS14. The Airport is connected to the close-by railway station of Venice-Mestre and the Bus Terminal of Fenice-Piazzale Roma by scheduled buses, and to Piazza San Marco by water taxi.
With two long runways and over 6.7 million passengers a year, the Venice Airport is served by a large number of domestic and international, as well as charter airlines, offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe.
Venice Airport’s passenger terminal, opened in 2002, has three levels:
(a) the ground floor is for arrivals and includes baggage claim, lost baggage desk, lost baggage storage room, Banca di Roma bank, Eurochange, post office,Travelex, and Café Marco Polo
 (b) the first floor is divided into a check-in area and a  departure area:  1. The Check-in area houses an Information desk, Welcome Desk for Groups; Ticket Offices of Air France, Alitalia, Alpi Eagles, Delta, Lufthansa, SAVE & Volare; tour operator Alpitour;  60 check-in desks; Customs; duty-free shop; newsstands, banking, postal & foreign exchange services, a restaurant, a café;  2. The Departure area houses Information Services, Customs, Travelex, a variety of shops & food services, and waiting rooms (Central, North & South waiting rooms, and ‘Sala Amica’).
(c) The second  floor houses offices for airlines and SAVE (the airport operator) and the Alitalia VIP Lounge for Sky Team passengers, the Marco Polo Club, South Terrace and Cisalpina Tours.
Shopping facilities range from the souvenir shop to the most upscale establishments with brand names known all over the world, and restaurants which offer a taste of Italy. To make your stay in Venice most enjoyable, a selection of travel agencies will point you to the right direction.
To get from the Airport to your destination, you can rent a car (inside the terminal, Arrivals level), take a taxi, a bus to the train (by ACTV & ATVO buses), or a bus either to (a) Venice-Santa Lucia  (Piazzale Roma Square is only 10 minutes away, across the ‘Ponte della Constituzione’ bridge); or (b) Venecia-Mestre on the main land, with easy connections to Milan, Verona & other parts of Italy. (c) Door-to-door shuttles are also available, as well as  various modes of water transportation situated right at the Airport.
