BTR Airport Overview
Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport BTR is close to major highways 110/190 and I-12 and I-10, and is 7 miles from from Baton Rouge's downtown area. It serves more than 1.6 million residents across south Louisiana and southwest Mississippi. Baton Rouge is the capital city of the State of Louisiana. Prior to becoming a state-of-the art intermodal facility, BTR Baton Rouge airport used to be a military installation known as Harding Fields. The Airlines serving the Airport are American Eagle, Continental and Delta Connection/Northwest. Non-stop flights with international connections are available to Atlanta, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Memphis
The passenger terminal has a three-story atrium rotunda with a food court and gift shops in the main terminal, and two concourses with a total of 10 gates. Amenities include a business center, conference room, wireless internet access, ATM machine, shoeshine and massage chairs, smoking lounge, vending machines, curbside checkin, hotel phone board, Kids room, chapel, nursing room, reading room, Smarte Carts & Skycaps. The airport has also two three-story parking garages with over 1,302 parking spaces. The surface economy is about 700 feet from the passenger terminal. There are two full-service lanes at checkout and one Credit Card Only Express Lane. All major credit cards accepted. To get from the Airport to your destination, you have a choice of renting a car (car rentals are in the Parking Garage), taking a taxi or a shuttle bus (both in front of the terminal).
The Airport is in the midst of major overhaul projects--28 in all--designed to expand capacity and enhance airport safety and include resurfacing the runway, expanding the terminal atrium, and giving the terminal new tiles, carpets and painting. The five-level parking garage is expected to be completed soon and should house rental car fleets and offering more spaces in the primary parking garage. Other projects are the relocation of Plank and Blount Roads--the 1.1 mile Plank Road relocation is already finished.
