Perth PER Airport Overview

Perth Airport PER is Western Australia's primary Airport. While its domestic flights are still the prevailing ones, international flights, particularly those from Malaysian and Indonesian markets, have dramatically increased after adding flights to Denpasar, Bali, which offers convenient connections onwards.

The Airport is located south of Guildford, near Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. From Perth center it is 12 km to the domestic terminals, or 17 km to the international terminal. Major arteries to the Airport are the Great Eastern Hwy & Bearley Ave. to domestic terminals, and Tonkin Hwy & Horrie Miller Drive to international terminal.

With two runways and an estimated 11.5 million passengers a year, Perth Airport is served by domestic & international airlines offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe.
Note: Qantas now offers  the next generation in check-in technology at Perth Airport for frequent flyers using microchips embedded in their cards.

The present passenger terminal complex at Perth Airport consists of three major passenger terminals - the eastern International Terminal T1 and the southern Domestic Terminals T2 & T3.  (For detailed terminal information, click on 'Terminal Map'.)

1. 'Connect' buses (tel. 1 300 666 806) run frequently from the Domestic Terminal or the International Terminal  to the city.  Connect also operates a shuttle service to Freemantle. Tickets are available outside the Arrivals Hall at T1 and outside the check-in hall next to Dome Cafe at T3.
2. Transperth (tel. 13 62 13) bus 37 stops at the Domestic Terminals from its route Kings Park-domestic terminals-via Perth city.

Future Airport Developments: Due to continued growth, the Airport is getting a considerable 'facelift', the first phase of which is to be concluded by late 2012. Plans now call for a single airport hub by relocating the domestic terminals. Construction on the new one-storey Domestic Terminal and its supporting infrastructure started in 2011; it  will become a much larger terminal than the present one, containing 16 check-in counters, 14 airline gates, 3 large baggage carousels, and offer aircraft parking for up to 36 planes. Furthermore, the International Terminal will also be expanded and upgraded, starting in eaar 2012.  It will also receive a new pier to accommodate larger aircraft.  The entire projet is to be completed by 2014.
