Rapid City Regional RAP Airport Overview

Rapid City Regional Airport RAP serves the tri-state area of South Dakota, Western Wyoming and Northern Nebraska. The stress-free Airport offers an alternative to crowded metropolitan airports with short lines, plenty of nearby parking and a complete range of travel services.
Rapid City is the largest community in Western South Dakota, located in the middle of the beautiful Black Hills. Visitors and residents enjoy many outdoor activities including biking, hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding and a wide variety of other sports and activities. National Geographic Adventure Magazine has named Rapid City as one of 50 Next Great Adventure Towns.

The Airport is located 2 miles from the village of Caputa, and only a few miles from Rapid City, in the southwest part of South Dakota - situated off Interstate 90 (Exit 61 Elk Vale Rd. south to SD 44. Go east on SD 44--the Airport is about 8 miles north).

The Airport suggests to arrive 1.5 to 2 hours prior to your scheduled flight.

With 539,436 passengers in 2011, Rapid City Regional Airport is presently served by Allegiant, American Eagle, Delta & United Express/ SkyWest airlines offering direct flights to major U.S. hubs, with connection worldwide.

The passenger terminal at Rapid City Regional - which had just completed its remodel & expansion project -offers three new jet bridges, new ticket counters, new rental car & ticket counters counters, extended security checkpoint, expanded seating in the concourse, added restrooms, as well as improved food & drink & retail concessions, and an extra 12,000 square feet of space.  Its large & open restaurants has a roof garden with outdoor seating.
The terminal is normally open 4am to midnight--no overnight stays inside the terminal are allowed.

Parking options at Rapid City Regional include short-term (first 20 minutes free), hourly, daily and long-term parking. For more parking information call Standad at 605-393-0685.  The Revenue Parking Lot has now been rehabilitated.

Rental car counters for major agencies are located in the Arrivals area of the passenger terminal.

To get from Rapid City Regional Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi or the Airport Shuttle (1-800-357-9998 or 605-399-9999), available 7 days/wk.  The Airport Express shuttle bus makes pickups / dropoffs anywhere in the Rapid City/Black Hills region at reasonable fees.
