Getting Around RAP Airport
The terminal at RAP features a straightforward layout, making navigation relatively easy. The terminal, which underwent a significant expansion in 2012, now includes 12,000 square feet of additional space. This expansion has added three jet bridges and one boarding gate, which helps streamline the boarding process. The terminal is divided into pre-security and post-security areas, each equipped with larger restrooms, modernized phone and data systems, and updated flight information boards.
For travelers looking to move quickly through the airport, the expanded security area can accommodate up to three lanes, including body scanners, to expedite the screening process. Once past security, passengers can enjoy improved food service and shopping options in the concourse, as well as additional seating areas. A rooftop patio offers a unique place to relax while waiting for your flight. For those needing ground transportation, a new rental car wing is conveniently located within the terminal. Energy-efficient windows and building exterior repairs contribute to a more pleasant environment inside the terminal.

Security & Screening
In the Security & Screening section, travelers will find detailed information about the locations of security checkpoints, the availability of TSA PreCheck lanes, and the absence of dedicated fast track lanes at the airport. Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
The Rapid City Regional Airport has two security checkpoints located in the main terminal. One is located near the entrance of the terminal and the other is located near the gates. Both checkpoints are equipped with TSA PreCheck lanes for expedited security screening for eligible passengers.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
There are no dedicated fast track lanes at the Rapid City Regional Airport. However, passengers who are eligible for TSA PreCheck can use the expedited screening lanes at both security checkpoints in the main terminal.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
The Rapid City Regional Airport does not have any international flights, so there are no passport or immigration control locations within the airport. However, customs and immigration facilities are available at nearby international airports for passengers arriving from outside the United States.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
RAP Airport has both regular TSA checkpoints and TSA Pre Checkpoints. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows pre-approved travelers to go through expedited security screening at participating airports. This program is available to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and lawful permanent residents. To apply for TSA Pre Check, travelers must complete an online application and schedule an appointment for an in-person background check. TSA Pre Check is available at select checkpoints at the airport, making security screening faster and more efficient for eligible travelers.

Global Entry Locations
RAP is not a designated Global Entry location, but travelers can still apply for Global Entry at other airports in the area. Global Entry is a program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers entering the United States. To apply for Global Entry, travelers must complete an online application and schedule an appointment for an in-person interview at a Global Entry enrollment center. The closest Global Entry enrollment center to Rapid City Regional Airport is located at Denver International Airport, which is approximately a 6-hour drive away. However, there are other enrollment centers located throughout the United States, making it easy for travelers to apply for Global Entry before their next trip.

Baggage Claim Areas
Baggage claim areas at the airport are located on the lower level of the main terminal. There are four baggage carousels available for passengers to retrieve their luggage. The baggage claim areas are clearly marked and easy to navigate. If you need assistance with your luggage, there are baggage carts available for use.
