No, you can't. Most airports don't even have them anymore.

  • Will my luggage be checked through?
    Feb 28, 2016

Hi, I booked a single ticket departing DFW on an Alaska Airlines flight operated by American Airlines arriving in LAX, then departing LAX on Air New Zealand for Auckland, then arriving ultimately in Brisbane on Air New Zealand. I'm wondering if anyone knows if my luggage will be checked through or if I may have to collect it at LAX and recheck? I'm traveling alone and moving to Australia so I have 2 checked bags, a carryon and a backpack.

You will not have to claim your luggage at LAX. You will just have to go from Terminal 4 where you arrive to the International Terminal where you depart.

It's my first time to use the DFW, I land from Narita Japan,i have to go to Miami then to Manaus Brazil. Kindly teach me the procedures.

You will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. If it is in Terminal A or C (likely), then you will take the Skylink train there after going through security. In Miami all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Thanks for the information.

I have a connection of 4 hours in Amsterdam - arrive on Delta, then depart KLM to Cape Town. Will I need to clear customs in Amsterdam, collect luggage and re-check at KLM or just go through passport control?

You don't have to do anything with your baggage or go through passport control since you aren't even entering the Schengen Area.

  • Baggage transfer between airlines

Hi, I have made single ticket booking from Duabi to Seattle (Emirates) and Seattle to San Diego (Alakska airlines) Will the bags be automatically transferred to the other airline in Seattle? Or do we need to manually move these and hand voer in Alaska airlines? Can someone please help on this info?

Your bags will be tagged to San Diego. In Seattle you will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the underground train to your departure gate in the C, D, or N concourse

How much trouble is it to claim luggage then go thru security at AMS

It's a fair amount of trouble. you'd need at LEAST 2 hours for such a transfer.

Arriving from Manchester (UK) and flying to Detroit. I have 60mins. Assuming I have no delays will I make it???

arriving into Frankfurt United airlines and departing United Airlines to Detroit

That should be enough time. Please note that both flights are operated by Lufthansa.

Is the baggage claim for arrivals for terminal D in terminal 2 ?

What airport are you talking about?

Frankfurt, Germany. Arriving on American Airlines

American Airlines uses Terminal 2 in Frankfurt, and yes, the baggage claim is there.

Thank you !! This helps because we want to get taxis from Terminal 2 and not have to go to Terminal 1

  • Do I need to check out luggage coming from Ottawa, Canada

Hi, coming from Ottawa and transit at Newark to catch a connecting flight to HongKong. Do I need to check out my luggage? I realised I only have 54 mins in between and am concern if I could make the connecting flights. Thanks for advise.

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Ottawa. All you have to do in Newark is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will likely arrive in Terminal A. You will depart from Terminal C. United runs a shuttle between A and C inside security. You have enough time if your flight from Ottawa is on-time.

"You have enough time if your flight from Ottawa is on-time." what if the United Airline is not On-time, then What should I do, Please advise ?

I am travelling from Dubai into Seattle then re-connecting into Alaska flight for Vancouver Canada. Can someone tell me customs process and also how to get to Alaska terminal

You will arrive in the S Satellite, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US customs, re-check your bags at the recheck desk then go through security and take the underground train to your departure gate in the C, D, or N concourse. You will go through Canadian immigration and customs when you get to Vancouver.

Hi, coming from Tokyo and transit at Denver to catch a connecting flight to New Orleans. Do I need to check out my luggage? I realised I only have 90 mins in between and am concern if I could make the connecting flights. Thanks for advise.

Are you flying Tokyo->IAH or Tokyo->Denver? Yes, you will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs, then re-check them at the re-check desk at the point which you enter the US.

HI I am travelling to Vancouver from Sydney by united airlines with lay over at SFO then again taking united airline flight to Vancouver about 6hrs layover .do I have to clear the customs and claim the baggage and re check it ?

You posted this in the forum for LAX? Are you connecting at SFO? Regardless, yes, wherever you are connecting in the US you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.

  • Collect luggage or not?

Hi, I am traveling from Winnipeg to TO via Air Canada, Terminal 1 then going to Dublin, Aer Lingus, Terminal 3 (2 hour layover). Will my luggage be transferred or will I have to pick it up? Thanks for your help!

Did you purchase your tickets on one reservation or two separate reservations? If two separate ones then you will likely have to claim your bags in Toronto and re-check them with Aer Lingus.

I purchased it as one flight with a change in TO.

I'm flying from Calgary to Vancouver then to Shanghai. There is a layover in vancouver for an hour and 51 minutes (With Westjet) then my shanghai flight is with china eastern. Will I have to go through customs in Vancouver and will I have to collect my luggage in Vancouver?

There is no Canadian customs when leaving Canada. If you purchased two separate reservations you will have to claim and re-check your baggage in Vancouver. However, if your tickets are on the same reservation then you don't have to do anything with your bags in Vancouver.
