  • baggage through check at lax

hi - my 16 year old son is travelling to San Diego via LAX from Aust.. He is flying American airlines to LAX( terminal B ) then to SD from terminal 4. Will his bags be checked through or will he need to collect them from terminal B and have them checked again at terminal 4?

By "Aust" do you mean Australia, Austria, or Austin, Texas? American airlines does not use the International Terminal, however, the Qantas code-share flights do. He will have to claim his bags to go through US Customs. They should be tagged through to San Diego, in which case he can re-check them at the re-check desk, then go to Terminal 4, go through security and take the shuttle bus to the American Eagle remote terminal where his flight to San Diego will depart.

sorry, Australia and yes it is a Qantas code share AA flight

  • 51 min layover with checked bags

I want to fly Midway (Chicago) to San Francisco on United and have a 51 minute connection in Denver. I will have one checked bag. Is that enough time that the airline will most likely get my bag switched to the new plane?

United Airlines does not fly to Midway - you either have the wrong airport or wrong airline. Please double check your reservation.

Mixed up the airports. Flying from Madison, WI... but the important part, is that 51 minute connection enough time in Denver?

Yes that should be enough time. both flights will be on the B concourse in Denver.

  • Alaska airlines theft of baggage from turnstile

My checked bag was taken off the turnstile. When I went to the Alaska airlines customer service desk I was told by the manager Stephanie thatI could not file a claim, that I needed to allow them 30 days to find my bag. They would not tell me what their policies were and they treated me like a criminal. The port authority police told me the same thing. My bag was taken before it went around the turnstile. I was told by the agent that it was probably an honest mistake. I travel quite often for my work and I will avoid Alaska Airlines from now on. Your customer service is horrific and your people are not properly trained. I was promised a call back today by Stefanie the manager, and I seriously doubt that I will get one. I just looked at some of the travel blogs online and I am seriously concerned about Alaska airlines ability to be honest and professional in this matter.

This is not Alaska Airlines' website. Nobody from Alaska Airlines will read this.

Would i need to collect my baggage and re check again after going through customs?? I have a single ticket and Saudi Airlines and Delta are skyteam partners. Thanks

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US customs, re-check your bags at the recheck desk then go through security and to your departure gate

  • collect baggage ?

Hi, I'm flying with united the whole way from Toronto via Chicago to Tokyo then to Fukuoka. I'm wondering if they will send my bag the whole way or if i need to collect it in chicago ? I only have 50 minutes layover in chicago !

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You don't have to do anything with your bags.

  • Recheck baggage if on route to an international destination

I am travelling from Toronto (Pearson) to Mumbai, through EWR(liberty international). All my flights are booked through a single booking. Will I need to reclaim my baggage at EWR and recheck it in for my next flight to Mumbai. What exactly is the procedure and how much time would I need?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. For the exact procedure in Newark I need to know what airlines you are flying.

I am travelling on air India to Mumbai

And what airline are you flying from Toronto? Were your tickets purchased on the same reservation or two separate reservations?

I am flying by Air Canada and yes the flights were booked on the same ticket.

Then you will just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Newark both in Terminal B. I believe Air Canada and Air India are in different satellites, so if that's the case then you will have to go through security on your way to your departure gate.

Air canada flight 7650 arrives at terminal A. My air india flight departs from terminal B

Then you will take the AirTrain from Terminal A to Terminal B and go through security and to your departure gate.

I'm flying from munich with Lufthansa arriving in terminal B in EWR and then going in to terminal C to go to Panama and the airlines is changing. It is a whole flight ticket bought on internet - will I have to pick up the luggage and than to chek in it again or it goes automatically till the end?

Yes, in Newark you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal C and go through security.

  • Baggage and passenger pick up needs to be on the maps for a pick up !

NONE of the maps show where the passenger pickup is located for any of the airlines using Dallas Love Field....

It's a very small area. DAL is not a big airport. When you approach the airport it should be fairly obvious.

Hello! Im a swedish citizen flying from Stockholm to Newark Terminal B. I then have to change flight to Charlotte at terminal C. Do I have to claim my luggage at Newark and re-check it or does it go to my final destination?

Yes, in newark you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to your departure terminal (either A or C) and go through security.

  • International Flight to Domestic, Will I have Enough TIme?

My flight gets in from AMS next week at 11:45, I am flying KLM and will have one checked bag, I am supposed to fly to OAK at 13:45 via Delta, is there a chance I will make this flight? Any pointers on how to make sure I do not miss my flight?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, follow the signs for connecting passengers, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then exit the international terminal, go to your right. The second building you come to will be Terminal 5, go inside, through security and to your departure gate.

I am travelling to India can I use two baggages that have combined weight of 20 kgs? Or only one baggage is allowed to be carried

You are allowed only one bag free. The second bag is $75 when traveling on Delta from the US to India. http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/traveling-with-us/baggage/before-your-trip/checked.html

  • I am flying from London to Chicago to Toledo

I am flying from London to Chicago where I will take a connecting flight from Chicago to Toledo. Once I get off the plane, do I need to go through security again before I can get to my terminal to fly to Toledo? This is my first time flying by myself and I am nervous as nervous can be. Because my layover time in Chicago is 1hr30mins. will this time be sufficient.

You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the ATS Train to Terminal 3, and go through security. You have barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Thanks a lot! I have my return flight on 29th from Fresno at 17:40 arriving at Los Angeles International at 18:51, then to London Heathrow at 20:55. Do you think there is enough time there? What should on arriving at Los Angeles Terminal 4 in order to get to Terminal B please? My domestic flights are with AA both ways, I have a single bag under 23kg, are there any fees associated? Thanks in advance!

Yes, that should be enough time for your connection in LAX. Since you are all on one international ticket, you shouldn't have to pay any checked bag fees.

    Thanks a lot!

I am flying from Guadalajara, Mexico to San francisco(SFO). i have a layover of 1 hour 45 minutes for the next flight. Please tell me if that would be enough ? my flight from GDL is of aeromexico and then cathay pacific

Were all tickets purchased on the same reservation? If so that should be enough time. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security and to your departure gate. If you purchased two separate reservations you will have to transfer your bags yourself and it may be difficult for you to get to the Cathay check in desk before the bag check cutoff.

Yes. The flights are booked through same reservation. But since there are 2 different airlines involved. i am not sure if that would be enough, also i am not sure how much time it takes at SFO airport.

You should have barely enough time.
