  • finding skycap service in arrival area

MY EXPERIENCE ON 03/13/13 AROUND 4PM DELTA TERMINAL #2 ------ YOU COULD HAVE YOUR POCKET PICKED EASIER THAN FIND A SKYCAP. SHAME ON YOU CHICAGO!! AND NOW I SEE THAT RENTAL OF SELF SERVICE CARTS NOW COSTS $4.00. (THAT'S WHAT I MEAN BY GETTING YOUR POCKET PICKED!!!!!

Very few people use skycaps thusly there aren't many of them as it's not a very good way to make a living. Blame your fellow travelers, not Chicago.

well, ZAP, that's not my experience at other airports ---maybe I was just lucky in PHX and ATL. In both places, not only were there Skycaps, they were courteous and accomodating as well.

  • Brooch Bouquet

We are creating a brooch bouquet (Made up of brooches) for a wedding in Italy. What's the best way to transport it? Can it be carried on board and thru security checkpoints?

I assume that if the bouquet fits inside a carry on and isn't made of long knives or explosives then it would be OK to bring through security.

  • Can I carry on garment bag for suit?
    Mar 11, 2013

I have a suit & cocktail dress for a wedding we're attending and don't want to crush them in our luggage. If I fold the vinyl garment bag in half, it would be 26" high and 22" wide. I'd like to hang them up once inside the plane. Am I allowed to carry this on since it's over the carry-on dimensions?

I've seen people do it, but since it's technically against policy it's up to the gate personnel and flight attendants whether you'll be allowed on with it or not. Whenever I have to travel with a suit I just neatly fold it in my carry on right before I leave for the airport and take it out as soon as I get to the hotel and have never had a problem with it getting wrinkled.

This is a great airport. However, it needs a low cost carrier such as AirTran. AirTran was at this airport briefly. What happened? It is too expensive to use this airport with Delta and US Air (now American). Jet Blue or Air Tran would be a great addition and I am confident those planes would be filled. We all tire of the drive to Jax and Orlando.

AirTran was bought by Southwest. JetBlue is generally not interested in small airports.

I am totally agree with zap

I am visiting Tokyo and would like to leave one of my luggage at the airport for about 18 hours while I am in Tokyo. Is there a service in Terminal 1 where I can leave one bag for that time?

I suggest you e-mail to Narita Airport atnaal@na.jp.

  • connecting to terminal 2 from TBIT

We are travelling from Australia to Edmonton via LAX. We fly in at 10.45am on QANTAS and fly out on Westjet at Terminal 2 at 12.05pm? We will have a bag to check in each. Have we left enough time?

sorry - update on earlier post: that should've read fly in at 9.45am.

As an international arrival at LAX, you will need to go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance and then re-check-in your bags - unless Qantas does not transfer bags to WestJet connecting flight - check with Qantas! Note that Qantas uses two terminals at LAX: T4 and TBIT (a/k/a Bradley Terminal or TB), while WestJet uses Terminal 2. (a) If arriving at TBIT you need to take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. (next stops: T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, around the bend to T1 & T2 - seven stops or about 18 mins); (b) If arriving at T4 and need to get to T2, use the same bus with only six stops. At T2 you would need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. If Qantas does not transfer bags, you would need to claim your bags on arrival and take them along to T2, checking them in there - in which case you may want to take a taxi instead.

Yep 2 hours will be fine. When we flew into Lax late last year from bne we flew into into T4 and had to go to another terminal to catch a united flight. You will need to recheck your bags at t2. Just walk it if you can, it's not that far!

  • Check through baggage

I am flying from Miami to JFK with American Airlines, arriving at 16:55 and then continuing from JFK to Amsterdam at 20:10 with Delta Airlines. Is it possible to check my baggage through all the way?

At JFK, AA & DL belong to different airline alliances & are not code-share partners - I doubt that AA will transfer bags; do check with AA. AA is in Terminal 8 (T8), Delta uses T2, T3 & T4 (T2 has gates 19-29; T3 gates 1-18; T4 gates A2-7 & B20-31. If AA does not transfer bags, you need to take them along on the 'Airline Terminals Train' running on average every 7 mins and arriving in the unsecured area of the terminals, where you need to (check in bags at Delta counter?) and go through security check before proceeding to your gate. You have plenty of time.

I lost my luggage somewhere in between security check and gate A10 (flying west jet from Toronto to New York LGA). It is a purple carryon suitcase. I have a ton of personal belongings in it that are truly only valuable to me. I would be soooo grateful if anyone finds it and calls me. 646-717-2721 or can email me at katie.cardell@yahoo.com

YYZ's Lost & found rules: 1. If you lost an item at the airline counter, at the gates, or onboard your airplane; or if your bag is lost or damaged - contact your airline. 2. If you lost an item either inside the terminal, on a GTAA contracted bus, on the LINK train or in a LINK station, complete & submit the lost and found form found at: torontopearson.com/en/lostfound/#

  • Flight from Melbourne to Vancouver

Hi there, I have a flight from Melbourne to YVR (vancouver) and we stop in LAX. Will we get to pick up our luggage at LAX? I'm looking to book a sooner light home from LAX to YVR and want my luggage so i can hop on the sooner flight (dont want to pay the cancellation fee from the first flight, so ive added one from LAX to YVR)

International arrivals at the US need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance and, if connecting to another terminal, exit incoming terminal and take shuttle bus to departing terminal, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. Your arrival and departure depends on which airline you use. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/lax then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text. On your return flight, from YVR, use US customs clearance there before boarding.

  • Overhead music.

Why is there overhead music? Not only is the choice of music awful, the volume is loud. Many of us prefer quiet, to read, or check our e-mail. 'Please silence the overhead 'music!' When virtually everyone can plug into their ipod, MP3 player, of cell phone, this noise pollution is a big irritant!

I suggest you contact Monroe Airport directly: http://www.flymonroe.org/contact.php

We will be flying United into O'hare from Buffalo in May. We land at 8:00am and our connecting United flight leaves at 8:45am. Having never flown into O'hare, is 45 minutes enough time to make our connecting flight as well as have our bags make it onboard the connecting flight?

that's a very tight connection. It's doable though if your first flight is on time. 45 mins is about the bare minimum I would recommend trying.

We do have another option with Southwest but much later in the day at MDW instead. Again it would be 45min to catch our connecting SW flight. Do you think this would be a better option due to the time restraints? Thank you for your input!

They're about the same - a 45 minute connection isn't automatic at either airport and the Southwest operation at MDW is about the same size as the United one at ORD.

Dear I have non shengen visa Im going to praiya Cabe verde via cdg airport from ULN. But ULN airport cant take my baggage to final distanation. When i pick up and recheck my baggage in CDG airport non shengen visa, Have a problem ? Baggage in claim located in tranzit hall ? dont need to go out immagration?

At CDG you need to you through passport check, then follow signs to "Exit - Baggage" to collect your bags, which you then need to check in with your connecting airline at their counter. Most likely will arrive at one of the seven terminal 2 satellites, depending which airline you use. At present, some airlines are being relocated. It is best for you to open http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/en-GB/Passagers/Access-maps-car-parks/guide-connection-flight/ then click on he terminal s in both 'You are landing at' and 'Your connecting flight is at'. It then will show below how to connect.

  • Lost royal blue half sized carryon lugga
    Jan 31, 2013

I lost a royal blue half sized carryon piece of luggage. On 1/29/13 we arrived at the airport at around 6:30 A.M. for our 8:15 Delta flight. I needed to have a wheelchair to help me get to the gate since I have spine and leg pains. After I got into the wheelchair from Delta, we began moving to the departure gate. I noticed that the smaller of the royal blue Delsey bags was not with me or my husband. We had checked two bags and then were carrying smaller items in a backpack and black Vera Bradley bag. I don't know if it made it to the baggage drop off or if someone else picked it up. Could you look at security video to see the drop off by the cab. I do not recall the cab company's name or the cabbie's number . I did not think to ask since this is my eight taxi ride in 69 years. Pleae let me know if you can check around for the smaller Delsey bag (half the size of a regular carryon) or if you can scan the video for a medium gray caracoal shirt, light colored , a baseball cap, while I had on black long sweater, black tights, and black and white blouse. The driver was a taller man from New Jersey. Please look through the video on 1/29/2013 for the cab company's name. There were not many people outside when we were there at 6:30, /A navy blue and mint green jacket is the top of the stuff in the bag.

This is not the airport's website - nobody from the airport will read this. You need to contact them.

  • Baggage overnight

If I overnight somewhere mid-way, say Seattle or Minneapolis, and then pick up my flight in the morning, can my luggage stay at the airport?

If your luggage is checked all the way though, then yes, it will sit in the bag room all night. If not you'll have to take it with you wherever you spend the night.
