  • Changing airlines for int'l flight

I will be arriving on US Air Flight US0571 with carry on luggage only landing at 10:30 a.m. I will be transferring to Delta Flt. 183 departing at noon to Osaka, Japan. I'm disabled and have requested help from US Air to make my connection. Do I have to go through security again? Customs?

That depends on which Airport you arrive at and if the two airlines are in different terminals. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ - enter your airport, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

You ill not have to go through customs in Seattle. The wheelchair assistance person should be able to assist you with your connection.

Probably not on a domestic flight. Possible if returning to the country on an international flight.

how do i know my chld will be safe flying? never in a plane and going from WV to TEXAS

You can take your child all the way to the gate by stopping by at her airline's check-in counter to obtain a 'non-flying boarding pass'.

I will be arriving from Tokyo on UA 9760( operated by ANA) at 9:50am , then connect to Phoenix on UA 3040 (operated by US Airways)at 11:25 am. Do i have enough time ? How far from cutoms area to US airways terminal?i am so worried.

Your transfer time seems to be adequate. You did not specify your arriving Airport. Therefore, I suggest you open www.ifly.com, enter the name of your arriving airport on top, and then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

I'm flying from WV to Charlotte airport with a brief layover before departing from Charlotte to Fort Lauderdale FL on a domestic flight. My question is do I have to go through TSA again at Charlotte before boarding on my flight to Fort Lauderdale?

Charlotte Douglas Airport has one large passenger terminal with Concourses and corresponding gates A through E, all of which surround the main terminal. You can walk from one Concourse to the next - no need to go through security check. Look on arrival at the overhead screens to find your connecting flight number and gate; then follow signs.

  • International/changing airlines

Please help this first timer: I will fly out of Chicago to Zurich, then to Johannesburg, changing airlines each time. I have a 12 hour layover in Zurich. Will I have to claim my bags in Zurich? I was told that I would not need to touch my bags at all until I got to destination... Will I have to go through customs in each country or just in Chicago. How about on the return trip? Same questions... Same cities... Thank you so much for the help!

Forgot to say: Orbitz said all three airlines I am flying (United, Swiss and South African) have a "baggage agreement". Is this right? Can I trust Orbitz?

Your first order of business would be to inquire at your airline leaving Chicago, if it will transfer your bags automatically on arrival in Zurich to your departing flight to Joburg - if not, you need to claim your bag and go to 'left baggage' for temporary keepsake. In Zurich you need to go through passport control & 'non-Schengen' (foreign) procedure. Enjoy your day in Zurich, making sure you allow enough time to return at least 55 mins (for possible baggage retrieval and re-check-in prior to next departure. On your return from Joburg, you need again to go through non-Schengen at Zurich and at Chicago through U.S. customs procedure (passport check, picking up bags, & going through Customs clearance. I suggest you read up on terminal/ transfer details by opening www.ifly.com/zrh (or jnb (Joburg) or ord (Chicago) and click on "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS, then scroll down to the detailed text.

Do make sure by contacting them individually, as regulations constantly change.

arriving from amsterdam delta 4,25 to connect delta 7,15 to anchorage what have i to do?

As a general rule, all international arrivals at the US (including US citizens) need to go through passport control, pick up luggage, go through customs clearance and re-check in their bags where indicated. Your time to do so, and to connect to possible other terminals in the Airport is adequate. Keep in mind that in most airports airlines are assigned to certain terminals /concourses /gates. I suggest you open www.ifly.com; then enter on top the Airport you arrive at; enter, and then select "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS - under the map are details about terminals, transfers, etc.

  • Transfer from United to Iberia Airlines

We arrive on United from Newark NJ and have to transfer to Iberia Airlines. How long does it take to clear customs and get to Iberia gates?

You are not clear - if you arrive AT Newark, you arrive at Terminal C and depart FROM Newark (EWR) from Terminal B. Follow signs to the Airtrain which will take you to Terminal B and will take only minutes. Only international arrivals will go through customs procedure which takes up to 50 mins. Open www.ifly.com/ewr; then click on "Terminal Map" under "QUICK LINKS", scroll down and read details.

  • How long from one terminal to another
    Jun 4, 2012

How long do you think it would take in the Philadelphia Airport to get from one US Air gate to another? For example, if I land at Gate C and then have to get to Gate A for a connecting light? Thanks

You arrive at Terminal 2 (gates C1-C20) and need to go to Terminal 4 (gates A1-A30). You need to exit Terminal 2 and take the free inter-terminal PHX Airport Shuttle bus at curb, which comes around every 7 to 10 mins. and takes at most 10 mins. Thereafter enter Terminal 4, go through security check, then proceed to the departure level and Checkpoint C to get to your gate.
