  • airlines to entebbe
    May 21, 2014
I'm flying to Entebbe, Uganda from San Francesco on the 26th of May. I'm trying desperately to avoid lengthy layovers. Any seasoned flyers to that part of the world with some advice on which airline. Dubai gives me a 13 hour layover. That would be all fine and dandy but the arrival time is 730ishPM and departure at 0430. By the time I get to a hotel, I've got 4 hours. Suggestions, oh weary travelers?

DXB Dubai Int'l AP has 10 'SnoozeCubes in Terminal 1, gate 122 - each with full-sized bed, TV, WiFi- and connection to flight info sytem. It also has the swanky onAirport Dubai Int'l Hotel tel. 04 224 4000. If using Emirates, you would arrive at Terminal 3 (A & B gates) Otherwise you would arrive at T1 with C gates.

  • can i see my relative for a asec
    Apr 17, 2014
im travelling from japan to ohare intl airport then my next flight is going to orlando i will wait for 3 hours can i see my relatives can they see me for an instance??? plsss help me

Yes, you should have enough time if your flight is on-time. You will be exiting the secure side of the airport in Terminal 5 anyway so they can meet you there. When you're ready to depart you will take the ATS train to your departure terminal and go through security.

  • Sister arrival in Dec.
    Nov 9, 2013
My sister is arriving Dec. 22 via United Airlines UA 981 at 6:50 a.m. She has a connecting flight to MDT via UA 3330 at 9:25 am. Does she still need to get her luggage after the customs or she will just get her luggage in the final destination (MDT)? Does she has an ample time to catch her connecting flight? Does she still need to check in in the United Airlines? Please advise. Any help will do.

She will claim her bags after she goes through US Immigration in Washington DC. Then she will go through US Customs, then drop her bags with the re-check desk, go through security, and to concourse A where flight 3330 will depart. She should not have to check-in again as she should be given both boarding passes in Bahrain or Kuwait (wherever she starts her journey on UA981)

Does she needs to take a shuttle going to Concourse A? Thanks again

    Yes, or the Aerotrain.

where will she re-check i n her baggage? is there a designated counter for United? Thanks again

There will be a re-check desk when she exist customs. It is used for all airlines, but nearly every international transfer passenger at IAD is connecting to a United flight.

  • enough time to connect in Detroit?
    Oct 30, 2013
I am flying from Phoenix to Detroit on Jan 10th, have a 44 min layover in Detroit, then going on to Manchester, NH. Is this enough time given the possible winter weather? Thank You

It's a tight connection and you will arrive in the A concourse and likely depart from the B concourse, so you may have a bit of a walk. Hope that your first flight is on-time.

  • Unaccompanied Minor pick-up service at Denver?
    Oct 8, 2013
My 14 yr old son will arrive from UK to Denver at 7.00pm, and needs to get to a hotel about 10 miles away. We do not know anyone in the area - is there a service that will meet him in the Arrivals hall, sign for him from the airline and take hiim to the hotel? Thanks for any local knowledge....

All international arrivals at U.S. need to go through passport check, pick up bags, & go through customs clearance. Thereafter, he can call his hotel for a shuttle pickup or go outside to the taxi rank and take a taxi. For more information contact either the Airport at (Tweet @diatweets) - or Traveler's Assistance - located at Concourse B and Terminal Level 5, (303) 342-0400

He's 14, I think he can handle an airport shuttle or a taxi.

Thanks, he has travelled UM many times on long-haul internationally but not to a large unfamiliar airport, arriving at night in the US.

  • connection time
    Oct 3, 2013
i am flying from memphis to atlata ,terminal S and the connecting flight is to paris, terminal I,and have only 30 min to catch the flight and am fying by delta

You will not arrive in Terminal S and depart from Terminal I. You actually will arrive in one of Atlanta's several domestic concourses and depart from concourse E/F. The Plane train connects all concourses within security. You will have enough time if your first flight is on-time and you hurry.

is 30 minutes enough to catch a connecting international flight .i will be flying by delta airlines

What airport are you connecting at? Where are you connecting from?

i am flying from memphis ,terminal S and the connecting flight is to paris from terminal I and i have only 30 minutes to catch the connecting flight.i am flying by delta ,so is the time enough

Never - 30 minutes is way too tight and I'm not even sure how you would get that connection as in the airline ticketing world, it's not even a 'legal connection'. (coming from an experienced Travel Mgr)

  • children flying alone
    Sep 19, 2013
my grandchildren ages 7 and 11 are going to be flying alone, they must change planes in Dallas is this safe

At that age they need to be registered as Unaccompanied Minors with the Airline. If they are, then yes, they will be safe as they will be accompanied by an airline employee the whole time.

  • ID for kids
    Aug 6, 2013
My kids are 11 and 14. Do they need ID's to fly?

On a domestic flight in the US, no, they do not.

  • 1hr30 connection
    Jun 24, 2013
I'm flying from Heathrow to Newark to Panama City. I have 1hr30 layover and I've checked to see what the regular terminals are for those flights and they are both in C. I was just wondering if this was enough time? What should I expect to have to do once I've landed (I've never done a connecting flight before) and will it make a difference that I have a dual citizenship for the UK and US?

When you arrive you will go through US immigration, claim your bag, go through customs, then re-check your bag at the recheck desk. Then you go upstairs and go back through security. You should have enough time (barely). You will have an easier time if you use your US passport.

  • Finding the route with the max miles to a destination
    Jun 21, 2013
I want to make sure I hit the highest level of status possible this year. I missed 100k flyer by just a few miles last year and regretted it. Is there a web site that would show me fares that use the max number of miles for the route? For ex., I flew from Chicago to London in May and connected through Houston, which really boosted my numbers for the trip (same cost as direct). If I can modify my route for 2-3 trips like that I could hit my numbers without a worry. Any ideas?

Not really, some people like SkyScanner but it's not really set up specifically for mileage runs. usually shows a ton of options for flights that require a connection. If you're in Chicago, perhaps start and end your trips in Milwaukee instead and it will show you more options.
