Air China Pet Policy

Are you planning to travel with your furry friend? Here's everything you need to know about Air China's pet policy.

Pets in the Passenger Cabin: Unfortunately, Air China does not allow pets to travel in the cabin with their owners. This means that your four-legged companion will have to travel in a different area of the aircraft.

Pets as Checked Baggage: If you wish to bring your cat or dog with you, they can travel as checked baggage. The combined weight of the pet and carrier must not exceed 99 lbs (45 kg) on domestic flights and 70 lbs (32 kg) on international flights. Each carrier can accommodate two animals weighing less than 30 lbs (14 kg) each, as long as they are used to cohabitation. However, if your pet weighs over 30 lbs (14 kg), they must be transported separately.

Guidance, Tips, & info on Airlines and Airports

Pets in the Cargo Hold: For animals that exceed the weight limits to travel as checked baggage, Air China offers the option to transport them in the cargo hold. To learn more about this service, you can contact the Air China Cargo office in New York at (800) 816-2288.

Allowed Weights & Dimensions: If your pet is traveling as checked baggage, it is important to ensure that the carrier meets certain requirements. The carrier must be solid, escape-proof, and leak-proof. It should also be big enough for your pet to stand upright and move around comfortably inside. Proper ventilation is also necessary. Remember that the total weight of the carrier, animals, feed, and water cannot exceed 99 lbs (45 kg) on domestic flights and 70 lbs (32 kg) on international flights.

Keep in mind that air carriers can change these policies at any time, so you should always check directly with Air China before you book for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
