Brussels Airlines History
Brussels Airlines is the flag carrier airline of Belgium, with its headquarters located at Brussels Airport. The airline was founded on November 7, 2006, and commenced operations on March 25, 2007, after the merger of SN Brussels Airlines and Virgin Express. It is currently a member of the Star Alliance, a global airline alliance.
Brussels Airlines has a rich history rooted in the aviation industry of Belgium. It traces its origins back to 2001 when SN Brussels Airlines was established as the successor of the bankrupt Belgian national airline, Sabena. SN Brussels Airlines aimed to rebuild the Belgian flag carrier and restore its presence in the international aviation market.
After a successful period of operations, SN Brussels Airlines merged with Virgin Express in 2006. This merger resulted in the creation of Brussels Airlines, which adopted the SN Brussels Airlines brand and continued to operate under its name.
