EVA Air Pet Policy

EVA Air has specific requirements and policies in place for passengers traveling with pets. It is important to familiarize yourself with these guidelines before making any travel arrangements.

Pet Reservation Info: Before traveling with your pet on EVA Air, you must fill out specific forms that can be found on their website. Due to limited availability, it is recommended that you contact EVA Air at (800) 695-1188 as soon as your travel plans are confirmed.

Pets in Passenger Cabin: Unfortunately, pets are not permitted to travel in the cabin on EVA Air flights. They must be transported in the cargo hold.

Guidance, Tips, & info on Airlines and Airports

Pets as Checked Baggage: EVA Air allows animals to travel in the cargo hold as checked baggage. There is no specific weight limit for pets, but carriers weighing over 70 lbs (32 kg) are subject to higher fees. Pets weighing less than 70 lbs (32 kg) are charged double the usual excess baggage fee, which can range from $8 to $230 depending on your travel plans. Pets weighing over 70 lbs (32 kg) are charged triple the amount of excess baggage.

Allowed Weights & Dimensions: For pets traveling as checked baggage, carriers must be IATA-approved and made of leak-proof, escape-proof, and claw-proof rigid plastic material. The carrier should provide enough space for the pet to stand, lie down comfortably, and have secure food and water containers.

Restrictions & Limitations: EVA Air advises against transporting snub-nose dogs and cats during hot seasons. Additionally, certain brachycephalic dog breeds and cat breeds are not permitted to travel during this time. The prohibited dog breeds include Affenpinscher, Boston Terrier, Boxers (all breeds), Brussels Griffin, Bulldog (all breeds), Bull Terrier, Pug (all breeds), Chow Chow, Dogue de Bordeaux, English Toy Spaniel, Japanese Chin/Japanese Spaniel/Chin Chin, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Lhasa Apso, Mastiff (all breeds), Pekingese, Presa Canario, Shar Pei, Shih Tzu, and Tibetan Spaniel. The prohibited cat breeds include Burmese, Himalayan, Persian (e.g. Chinchilla), and Exotic Shorthair. Additionally, the following breeds are not permitted to travel at any time with EVA Air: American Pit Bull (Terrier), American Staffordshire Terrier, Fila Brazileiros, Japanese Tosa, Pit Bull Terrier, Dogo Argentino (Argentine Mastiff), and Cane Corso. It is important to note that pets are not accepted on A321 aircraft. Emotional support animals are now recognized as pets and are subject to the same policies and restrictions.

Keep in mind that air carriers can change these policies at any time, so you should always check directly with EVA Air before you book for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
