Pakistan International Airlines: Aircraft Fleet
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is the national flag carrier of Pakistan and operates a fleet of 32 aircraft. The airline has a mix of narrow-body and wide-body aircraft to cater to both domestic and international routes.
The narrow-body fleet of PIA consists of 12 Airbus A320-200 and 8 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. These aircraft are used for short-haul flights within Pakistan and to destinations in the Middle East and South Asia.
The wide-body fleet of PIA consists of 12 aircraft, including 5 Airbus A330-300, 4 Boeing 777-200ER, and 3 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. These aircraft are used for long-haul flights to destinations in Europe, North America, and the Far East.
In recent years, PIA has made significant deals regarding its aircraft fleet. In 2018, the airline signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) for the purchase of 5 new Xian MA-700 aircraft. The MA-700 is a regional turboprop aircraft that will replace PIA's aging Fokker F27 aircraft on domestic routes.
PIA has also signed a lease agreement with the Dublin-based leasing company AerCap for the lease of 3 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. These aircraft will be used to expand the airline's long-haul fleet and to launch new routes to North America.
