Layout and Access
T5 at Chicago ORD has a single concourse (Concourse M) with 35 gates, numbered M1 to M40. The terminal is primarily used for international flights and offers a variety of amenities to cater to the needs of travelers. The lower level houses the Arrivals area and baggage claim, while the upper level is dedicated to ticketing, check-in, and boarding gates. Be prepared for long walks as the distance between the check-in counters and gates can be substantial.

Transportation to Other Terminals
Connecting between Terminal 5 and the other terminals is made easy with several options available:
ATS
Look for signs indicating the Transit System when locating the ATS. This system provides seamless transfers between Terminal 5 and the other terminals.
Terminal Transfer Bus (TTB)
While Terminals 1, 2, and 3 have pedestrian connections on the secure side of the airport, Terminal 5 does not. The Terminal Transfer Bus runs every 15 minutes between 11:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m., with two routes: one between Terminal 1 and Terminal 5, and another between Terminal 3 and Terminal 5. Both routes transport passengers in each direction.

Terminal 5: Past, Present, and Future
Terminal 5 at Chicago O'Hare opened in 1993 and has seen numerous upgrades to accommodate growing passenger traffic. Currently, Terminal 5 is undergoing significant renovations under a $300 million project, expected to be completed by 2027. This project includes expanding and reconfiguring spaces, streamlining security, and improving amenities.
