El Al Airlines: Aircraft Fleet
El Al Airlines is the flag carrier of Israel and operates a fleet of modern aircraft to serve its passengers. The airline has a total of 45 aircraft in its fleet.
The El Al Airlines fleet consists of a mix of Boeing and Embraer aircraft. The airline's long-haul fleet is comprised of Boeing 747-400, Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, and Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. The airline also operates a fleet of Embraer E195-E2 aircraft for its regional and domestic flights.
El Al Airlines has made significant deals in the past to upgrade its fleet. In 2015, the airline signed a deal with Boeing to purchase and lease up to 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The deal was valued at $5.4 billion and was aimed at replacing the airline's aging fleet of Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
El Al Airlines has also taken steps to improve the in-flight experience for its passengers. In 2018, the airline announced that it would be retrofitting its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with a new premium economy class. The new class features wider seats, increased legroom, and an enhanced in-flight entertainment system.
