Amritsa Raja Sansi International Airport ATQ (formerly known as Sri Guru Ram Airport) serves India's Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, as well as parts of Himachal Pradesh, including Kangra valley. It is Norh India's primary airport with a promising future, and it will see many changes in the coming years.
The City of Amritsar is home to the 'Golden Temple', the Harmandir Sahib, and is the spiritual and cultural center of the Sikh Religion.
ATQ Airport is located near the village of Raja Sansi, 11 km northwest of the City of Amritsar, on the Amritsar-Ajnala Road (and just 32 miles east of Lahore, Pakistan).
With a long runway and 0.5 million passengers in 2016, Amritsar International Airport is currently served by Air India, Jet Airways, Spice Jet, Qatar Airways, Uzbekistan Airways & Turkmenistan Airways, offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe.
NOTE: Amritsa Airport's passenger count has decreased for a good number of years and efforts to obtain flight to Europe and the U.S. have been slow in materializing. Despite the fact that Amritsa hosts yearly 35 million pilgrims, the Holy City lost significant air links. However, Air India had started April 1, 2017 serving the route to/from Birmingham, U.K.
