North Terminal Info & Layout

The North Terminal, now known as the Evans Terminal, at Detroit Metropolitan Airport is a pivotal hub for handling domestic and international flights, primarily serving non-SkyTeam airlines. This terminal accommodates major airlines such as Air Canada, Alaska, American, Frontier, JetBlue, Lufthansa, Southwest, Spirit, and United, among others.

The Evans Terminal boasts 29 gates, with two gates specifically designed to accommodate international wide-body aircraft. It features a comprehensive array of amenities to enhance the traveler experience, including a Lufthansa Business and Senator Lounge located between Gates D7 and D8, which is accessible to Lufthansa premium cabin passengers and select elite members.

Travelers have access to two six-lane security checkpoints, ensuring efficient processing for both domestic and international flights. The terminal also includes U.S. Customs & Border Protection inspection facilities on the lower level for arriving international passengers. For those traveling with pets, a new service pet relief area is available to accommodate their needs.

Access to the Evans Terminal is facilitated through four long segments of moving walkways on the departures level, enhancing passenger convenience. Additionally, a moving walkway on the lower level aids international arriving passengers in reaching the Federal Inspection Services area. The terminal is seamlessly connected to other areas of the airport, ensuring easy transitions for connecting flights.

The Evans Terminal's noteworthy features include five common-use domestic baggage carousels, along with two additional carousels inside the Federal Inspection Services area for international flights. A central Oversize Baggage Claim is conveniently situated adjacent to both the international and domestic carousel areas.

In 2010, the Evans Terminal was recognized with the "Build Michigan" award, highlighting its excellence in design and construction.
