Terminal Layout, South- & North Terminal Details, Check-in options, and US Departures /Customs Pre-clearance:

Edmonton International Airport now has one integrated passenger terminal with North & South side facilities.
Its streamlined boarding processes, more comfortable gate areas,  6 new moving sidewalks, new highly visible signage to amenities & services, new Central Hall, US Departures Lounge & Canada Arrivals hall - all  make for a more modern, speedier and  tastier Airport experience!  Notice the 'Living Wall - a vertical lush green garden whose plants also serve recycling the terminal's air.  Michael Hayden's 'The Raven' sculpture at the Canada Border Service Agency area refracts light .
Amenities and services in pre- & post-security areas:
- at Pre-Security: Euro Cafe, Harvey's, Hudson News, ICE Currency Exchange, Jasper Bar & Grill, Baggage Wrap and Trael & Leisure.
- at Post-Security:
   (a) U.S. -
Artisan, Chilis's Express, Dufry Duty-ree, ICE Currency Exchange,, iStore, Quiznos, Red Canoe, Relay News, Starbucks, Wings Tap & Grill ,and the Plaza Premium Lounge. 
   (b) post-security, domestic & international:
a wide range of food, drink  & stores, and the Plaza Premium and Air Canada Lounges.

A. The South side of theTerminal and Central Hall have received positive reviews from passengers for their spaciousness and fast-moving, yet thorough, security checkpoints. The new terminal actually has a warm and welcoming fireplace, a nice antidote to the sterile environment of most airports.
    The Arrivals level i
partitioned into Arrivals A, B, C & D and has baggage claims areas accordingly. Canada Customs is near Arrival E.  The center door 7 leads to the information booth and at right to Arrivals C, B & A with baggage claim 12 - 30;  at left are Arrivals D & E with baggage claim 10, 8 & 6 and at the E section the Canada Border Services Agency.   This level also connects to all modes of transportation outside, as well as to the following parking facilities (starting with the closest one: P4 daily, P3 daily, P2 hourly, P1 (with rental cars) and ValuePark.
    The Departures level is divided into Airlines' South & North check-in areas. U.S. Preclearance is next to south check-in area. The Central Hall has access to the gates on either side. This Hall just completed its extension work and added more shops & restaurants.  The Central Hall divides domestic & International gates: To the right are gates 49A-J & 1-48; to the left are gates 50-74, at the very left end are the US gates 74-88.
    Zone 1 South houses the US Departures Lounge, the newly opened & expanded US Customs area, and a commercial area.
    Amenities and services in the South Terminal include an indoor observation deck with lounge chairs and workstation), U.S. Quick Connect and U.S. Preclearance; free internet access, free baggage carts, a daytime baggage storage; full-service currency exchange, a chapel, KidsWorld, an arcade, a medical clinic and Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounge, and food & drink and retail concessions.  

B. The North side of the terminal
now offers more business facilities, with more gates; double retail space; added more food & drink establishments, family play areas and a new concept in lounge seating. Also, 2 new COBUS 3000 apron-loading buses with low floors will be able to handle up to 90 passengers with carry-on bags.
    Zone 2 North Central houses International and Domestic Departure, with lounges, shops & restaurants, and with access to gates 1 to 88.  It also houes HMSHost's Heineken Lounge.

Check-in options at Edmonton International Airport:
    Web Check-in
Most of the major airlines at Edmonton International Airport offer Web Check-In . Use online check-in from your home, office, or any place you can access the Internet to check in for your flight and print your boarding pass before you leave for the airport. On arrival at the Airport, look for baggage drop areas for Web Check-In that will allow you to bypass the regular check-in/ baggage drop line and save time. 
    28 self-check-in kiosks throughout the terminal allow passengers to access multiple airlines from one machine, check in faster, and avoid line-ups. The kiosks are free, easy to use, and can be used by all guests. It takes approximately 60 seconds to check in at a kiosk, making them a quick and convenient alternative to traditional check-in processes.
    Airport Express kiosks located at the Downtown Visitor Information Center at 9990 Jasper Avenue for customers who want to check-in for their flight downtown before leaving for the airport.
    WestJet passengers can now check in and drop off their bags at the main jetSet office, which is in the jetSet parking lot, take a shuttle to the terminal and proceed without hassle to security.

NOTE:  A large dining hall and an 'Outlet Collection' shopping area will expand the current shopping center by 65K sq.feet and add 100 new stores (divided into separate areas)  - with a shuttle service linking the new shopping center to the airport - all schedule for completion by 2017 (some or all may already have been completed).

U.S. Departures & Customs Pre-Clearance: The newly opened  US Departures area tripled its space and offers gates 74-88, brand-name stores & restaurants, workstations, lounge seats with plug-ins, a common-use Plaza Premium Lounge;  padded play areas & video game station.
    US bound passengers (US & Canadian passport holders, and those of Visa-waiver countries) may now use one of the multi-language self-service APC kiosks (instead of the old customs declaration form) for expedited entry process by following on-screen instruction; after completion, collect receipt & proceed to a USCBP officer completing the process. Persons living at the same address may use the same kiosk.
    Canadian passengers with boarding cards and/or baggage tags, connecting from a domestic flight to a U.S. destination, can use the EIA Quick Connect, with no need to claim & recheck baggage.
    U.S. Preclearance:  US Quick Connect passengers can proceed directly to their connecting flights via the new US Quick Connect security station at US Customs, and bags will be transferred to the US baggage room for securit screening and loading to their US connection.
    NEXUS cardholders may, after going through US Quick Connect station, use NEXUS self-serve kiosks & expedited dedicated lanes.

NOTE:   To the  south of Airport Road, and directly next the QE II Highway, a 415,000 sq.foot retail outlet - named 'Outlet Collection at EIA' is being built (or may already be completed)  and is to carry over 100 brand names.
