Domestic Terminal Info & Layout
The Domestic Terminal at Indira Gandhi International Airport primarily handles domestic flights and serves as a key hub for low-cost carriers such as SpiceJet and IndiGo. This terminal, specifically Terminal 1D, is dedicated to domestic departures and features a modern design with a total floor space of 53,000 square meters. It has been expanded to enhance its annual passenger handling capacity to 30 million.
Terminal 1D offers 72 Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE) enabled check-in counters, 16 self check-in counters, and 16 security channels, ensuring a smooth and efficient check-in process for travelers. The terminal is equipped with various amenities including dining options, retail shops, and passenger lounges to enhance the travel experience.
Access to the Domestic Terminal is facilitated by pedestrian walkways, and it is conveniently connected to other terminals within the airport. Passengers can easily transfer between terminals via shuttle services, ensuring seamless connectivity for those with connecting flights.
A noteworthy feature of Terminal 1D is its recent introduction of an e-boarding facility, which allows for contactless boarding through the use of boarding card scanners at all gates. This innovative system enhances the efficiency and safety of the boarding process.
