TRAVEL TIPS AND REGULATIONS AT YVR AIRPORT:
To help make your journey smoother, take a few minutes to prepare before coming to the airport. With some changes to ID requirements and continued restrictions on taking liquids and gels through security, knowing the rules will help you save time at YVR.
Regulations
Transport Canada has introduced a Passenger Protect program that includes changes to ID requirements for passengers flying within Canada and a Specified Persons List of individuals who may pose an immediate threat to aviation security, should they board a flight. Packing Tips
To get through passenger security screening faster, know what you can and can't bring in your checked and carry-on baggage. Visit the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA)'s website for detailed information on permitted and non-permitted items.
Checking In
Make sure you have plenty of time, here are some guidelines to follow:
* For flights within Canada, check in at least 90 minutes prior to departure.
* For flights to the U.S., check in at least two hours prior to departure.
* For international flights, check in at least two hours prior to departure.
* Allow extra time if you are travelling during the busiest times of the year, such as late August/early September with back to school travelers and holiday times such as Spring Break; Thanksgiving and the winter holiday season.
You can also check-in from the comfort of your home or office for most airlines serving YVR through the Airport's FasTrack Check-in feature.
Another time-saving tip is to use one of the airport's self-service kiosks, which give you access to multiple airlines from one kiosk. They are conveniently located throughout YVR and at a number of Vancouver area and Whistler hotels.
