Getting Around the Airport
Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport is gateway to Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Pocono mountains, and serves the city of Wilkes Barre, and its counties.
The Airport is in the town of Avoca - near the border of Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties, and is located to the North of the City of Wilkes Barre and to the South of the City of Scranton, with Interstate 81 being the major travel artery.
Main Terminal
The terminal building structure at the AVP airport has one main terminal building which houses all airport facilities. The building has two main levels.
The First Level houses Baggage Claim towards the left and Airline Ticket Counters towards the right. There is an Info Center in the middle. There are baggage loading and unloading areas, and Car Rentals towards the left of the Baggage Claim area. Other amenities in this area include Military Appreciation Room, Public Safety Offices, and a Lower Boarding Area.
Towards the exit there is Uber, Lyft, and Taxi Pick Up Areas, Public Entrances / Exits, and LCTA Pick Up / Drop Off.
The Second Level houses a TSA security checkpoint leading up to the terminal gate area. There are 08 terminal gates in this area. Other amenities in this area include Restrooms, Administrative Offices, Barry J Centini Conference Room, and a Chapel.

Food, Shops & Amenities
There are various shopping and dining options in the AVP airport. For dining there is Dunkin’ Donuts, Lucky’s Craft Food and Drink, and The Tipsy Turtle Airport Pub.
Terminal Tips
- Passengers are advised to arrive at least 2 hours before their scheduled departure time to account for TSA security wait times and any possible delays.
- To ensure a smooth check-in process, passengers should pack carry-on luggage in a suitable manner, have photo ID ready, and read all the airline guidelines properly prior to arriving at the airport.
- No unattended baggage will be allowed inside the terminal building. You must keep your bags with you at all times.
