KUN Airport is located in Karmelava, 15 km northeast of the city center of Kaunas, and next to motorway A-6 which connects to A1, and A1in turn connects to A5.
With an estimated 825,000 passengers per annum, the airport is served by low-cost airlines Ryanair & Wizzair, offering a multitude of destinations throughout Europe, with connections around the world. Seasonal charter flights to popular vacation destinations are also available.
Note that Ryanair check-in is open 2 hours prior to scheduled departure and closes strictly 40 minutes before. GHC Litcargus handles all Ryanair inquiries (tel. +370 37 750 195 or 196).
The new 2-level 'Airhotel' with 53 rooms is in front of Arrivals.
NOTE: Due to runway reconstruction at Vilnius Airport between July 14 and August 17, 2017 all flights from Vilnius Airport will be moved to Kaunas Airport!
The passenger terminal at Kaunas International Airport* started reconstruction in January 2017, which is now completed. The 3-level terminal offers food & drink, and a WiFi zone by Zebra are available throughout the terminal. The new additions to the terminal include children's play areas, expanded parent/child rooms, renovated restrooms, and smoking areas.
Level 1 is for arrivals and has an Information desk, ticket office, cash machine, bank branch, newsstand, police, tourist information and rental car counters.
Level 2 is for departures with a departure hall and offers 12 check-in desks, Ryanair office, its departure hall has an Airport Travel Shop and coffee and snack area, and a bar.
Level 3 has some departures and aviation security.
* Present and future Airport developments: Kaunas Airport is preparing for 'significant increases in passenger flow' and are therefore commencing construction on temporary departure and arrival terminals: By mid-July 2017, work will commence on the two terminals and the reconstruction of airport apron (expanding it from current 15 to 22 and later to 24 aircraft parking spaces). Of the two temporary terminals:
- Terminal A will serve Schengen departures with 16 check-in counters, 4 self-service kiosks, 4 security checks and 6 gates. TA will offer cafes & shops, vending machines, while the Business Club will be moved into TA.
- Terminal C will serve Schengen arrivals and will have 3 baggage claim areas.
