I am arriving in the morning from Guyana but will need to connect to an afternoon flight booked separately and with a different airline. Since my baggage is booked only up to Trinidad, I assume I will have to claim my checked luggage and bring it to my next flight's check-in area. Now comes my simple question: To access the baggage claim area to claim my checked luggage, must I pass through immigration, including the long waiting time, etc.? Or is there some procedure wherein a passenger in my situation would be allowed to claim his checked bag(s) without having to immigrate? (Keep in mind that I would be holding a ticket for my afternoon international flight.)
Thank you for your prompt answer.
Yes, you will have to go through Trinidad & Tobago immigration and customs to claim your bag.
