Hi we are due to arrive with Air Canada from Vancouver at 11:00 and leave for Manchester with Thomas Cook at 16:50. Bookings are separate. Am I right to assume we will have to collect bags, clear customs and then check in again? Also do you think the time is sufficient and do you have any advice. Many thanks for your help.
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. You just have to claim your bags, re-check them with Thomas Cook, and go through security. You have plenty of time.
Thanks, much appreciated
I have a U/A flight from Singapore to SFO connecting to a U/A flight to ORD. The layover is
1hr 45min . Is that enough time to make the second flight?
Yes, that is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
arriving at SFO at 3:24 pm from Medford, OR and leaving for Copenhagen at 5:35 pm. Is that enough time?
Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate if both flights are on the same reservation.
Thank you!
So I'm flying from Tokyo to Osaka to SFO to Vancouver. I am flying ANA(Tokyo to Osaka) and United for the rest of my flights. I am wondering whether I need to recheck any of my checked bags as from Osaka to SFO it is a 2hr 15min layover and SFO to Van its a 5hr layover.
In SFO you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate.
Hi there, I have a 3 hour connection coming from YVR-SFO-AKL. I currently only have LAX to compare any US airport too, would I be fine with my 3 hour connection time to clear customs and reach my connecting flight? Also would I be required to collect and recheck my bags for my flight to AKL?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in San Francisco. If both flights are on the same reservation all you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
I will be on Quantas QF146 (using American as carrier) arriving at SFO at Terminal 2 at 8:10PM and leaving at Terminal International I on Quantas QF74 at 11:25PM. Do I get processed through customs at JFK or at SFO for Sydney (I don't want to worry about luggage), and how do I get to the International Terminal at SFO from Terminal 2 so I can ensure there is enough time?
There is no US Customs when leaving the US. You just take the AirTrain to the International Terminal and go through security. You have plenty of time.
I'm a uk citizen returning home to U.K. from Australia with an 8 hour layover in SFO. If I have a U.S esta is it ok to leave the airport to see the sights.. thanks
Yes, you can leave the airport.
Thanks for the quick reply... now, I land about 9.00 a.m have I got time to see The Golden Gate, fishermans wharf, and ride a cable car and get back to airport by about 15.00.
Best way to do this pls and any other suggestions if time available.. thank you
The best way to do that is the BART Train and walking. I think you have enough time.
Hi, taking American Eagle from LAX arriving 1655 at SFO and connecting to Finnair departing to HEL at 1910. Enough time?
Yes, that should be plenty of time. You just have to take the AirTrain to the International Terminal and go through security.
Hello - I didn't realize we needed to go through security again at SFO. Is 2 hours enough connection time? I think we have a Terminal 2 arrival into SFO, Virgin Atlantic from IAD. Or is it possible to get to International Terminal from Terminal 2 via Terminal 3 and not leave the secured area? Thanks!
You have to go through security again. 2 hours is just enough time.
