Acapulco Alvarez International Airport ACA is one of Mexico's much sought-after destination for millions of sun-seekers yearly from the United States and Canada. Situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Tres Palos Lagoon, it is the largest Airport in Mexico's southern Pacific region. ACA Airport is undergoing continuous improvements and renovations and offers modern facilities.
ACA Airport is located 26 km from downtown Acapulco, in the State of Guerrero, Mexico.
With two runways and 718,493 passengers in 2016, Acapulco Airport is served by a number of major commercial airlines, as well as by seasonal charters. Its domestic airlines serve the larger cities of Mexico.
The passenger terminal at Acapulco Alvarez Airport offers shops and duty-free stores, food & drink establishments, a VIP lounge, a business center, ATMs, currency exchange, baggage wrapping, rental car counters, ground transportation operators, as well as an immigration and customs service. Club Regina Villavera, Mayan Resort International and Mayan Resort National have service desks on the lower level of the terminal. The upper level has access to gates 1 through 6.
Parking options at Acapulco Airport include short- and long-term parking near the passenger terminal. Parking fees must be paid in Mexican pesos, at the automated payment machine in the parking lot exit. Handicap parking is available.
Transportation: Options include rental cars, taxis,hotel shuttles, or one of the many shuttle buses departing frequently to the City. Air taxi service to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is provided by Blue Coast Aviation.
Current & future Airport developments: Construction started July 13, 2016 on the new 200,000 sq.ft. terminal with three levels and a mezzanine and a capacity of 1.3M passengers a year. It is to have 6 boarding gates, 3 passenger jetways, new check-in facilities with 34 fixed ad 9 automated check-in kiosks, and a state-of-the-art security screening area will have 3 simultaneously operting lines. The new ramp area is to have 6 semi-contact, 3 aircraft contact and six remote positions. Completion is scheduled tentatively between 2018 & 2019.
