Getting Around the Airport
The terminal building structure at the BCN Airport consists of two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Both of them are separate terminal areas which are connected via a shuttle bus.
Terminal 1
Terminal 1 of the BCN Airport has three levels and serves both non-Schengen and Schengen flights.
The ground level is the Arrivals level and houses the check-in counters and baggage claim carousels. Outside there are several ground transportation options.
Level 1 houses the boarding areas A, B, and C, along with the terminal grates, hence is considered as the Departures level. Boarding Area A, B, and C handle flights to Madrid, Schengen, and Air Nostrum respectively.
Level 2 houses the terminal lounges, passport control area, and check-in systems.
Level 3 is another Departures level with the D and E boarding areas. In total it has a total of 144 check-in desks and 101 boarding gates. Boarding Area D and E cater to non-Schengen European and non-European flights respectively.
Services on Terminal 1 include Children’s play area, Information desks, ATMs, Currency exchange, Prayer rooms, Duty free stores, VAT refunds, Hairdresser, and Showers.

Terminal 2
Terminal 2 has two levels and has been the oldest terminal at the BCN Airport since its origin. It handles regional flights.
The ground level has check-in counters for Terminal 2B and Terminal 2C. Outside there is a ground transportation section while other car rentals and services are also added.
Level 1 houses the security checkpoints leading up to the boarding areas/gates for Terminal 2A.
All three terminals Terminal 2A, Terminal 2B, and Terminal 2C are interconnected.

Terminal 2A
Terminal 2A is under renovation.

Terminal 2B
Terminal 2B is served by Ryanair and other lost-cost airline companies. It is split into boarding areas labeled M, R, S, U, W, and Y with Gates M01 to M08, R15 to R19, S26 to S30, U37 to U41, W48 to W52, and Y59 to Y63 on Level 1; and boarding areas R, S, U, W, and Y with Gates R09 to R14, S20 to S25, U31 to U36, W42 to W47, and Y53 to Y58.
Schengen flights are handled by Gates area U while non-Schengen flights are handled by Gate areas W and Y.

Terminal 2C
Terminal 2C is served by EasyJet and consists of gate areas with security checkpoints.
Services on Terminal 2c include Children’s play area, Information desks, ATMs, Currency exchange, Prayer rooms, Duty free stores, VAT refunds, Hairdresser, and Showers.

Food, Shops & Amenities
There are many options for shopping and dining around BCN airport. Some notable shops and restaurants include Chocolat Factory, Sibarium, Burberry, and Adolfo in Terminal 1; and Chocolat Factory, Claire’s, Desigual, and Victoria’s Secret in Terminal 2. Express Duty Free and Barcelona Duty Free is available at both terminals.
Airline Lounges
BCN Airport has several airline lounges. There is Premium VIP Lounge, Sala VIP Colomer, Sala VIP Miró, and Sala VIP Pau Casals, on Terminal 1; and Sala VIP Canudas on Terminal 2.
Terminal Tips
- Arrive 90 minutes before flight time in case of domestic flights, and two hours before flight time in case of international flights.
- Print your boarding passes beforehand or use electronic boarding passes to save time
- Get all information regarding baggage sizes, airline schedule, curbside pickup/dropoff, or wheelchairs, prior to reaching the airport
