    Getting Around COS Airport

The airport features a single terminal with two concourses. However, only one concourse, which houses gates 1–12, is used for commercial flights. The second concourse, known as the Western Pacific Airlines concourse, contains gates 14–18 but is primarily used for meetings and not accessible to the public. This makes navigating the airport relatively straightforward, as you will only need to familiarize yourself with the main concourse.

Upon entering the terminal, you will find the check-in counters and security checkpoint. After passing through security, you will access the concourse with gates 1–12. Signage throughout the terminal is clear and helps guide you to your gate, restrooms, dining options, and other amenities. If you need assistance, airport staff are available to help direct you to your destination.

Here are a few tips for getting around the terminal efficiently:

    • Pay attention to the overhead signs, which provide directions to gates, restrooms, and other facilities.
    • If you have any questions or need assistance, look for information desks or airport personnel.
    • Allow extra time to pass through security, especially during peak travel times.

    Frequent Flier Terminal Tips

To help you navigate the airport terminals with ease, we’ve gathered the best advice and tips from COS-based frequent travelers, flight attendants, pilots, and airport staff. Their first-hand insights will guide you through the terminals for a smoother journey. Here’s what they have to say:

    Navigating the Airport

"If you're flying out of COS, arrive a bit early and take a moment to familiarize yourself with the terminal layout. The main concourse houses all the gates for commercial flights, making it fairly straightforward. Look for the overhead signs—they're really helpful." — John D., Monument, CO, December 2023

"For those new to Colorado Springs Airport, remember that gates 1-12 are all in the same concourse. It's a small airport, so you won't have to walk far, but keep an eye on the signs to avoid any confusion." — Emily R., Fountain, CO, January 2024

    Amenities & Services

"The food court in the main terminal has a decent selection. I always grab a coffee from the shop near the entrance before heading to my gate. Also, the free Wi-Fi is pretty reliable if you need to get some work done." — Michael K., Manitou Springs, CO, February 2024

"If you have a bit of time before your flight, check out the massage chairs near the gates. They're a great way to relax for a few minutes, especially after going through security." — Lisa M., Woodland Park, CO, March 2024

    Security

"The TSA PreCheck lanes at COS are a lifesaver. They’re available at both security checkpoints, and the lines are usually short. It’s worth enrolling if you travel frequently." — David S., Peyton, CO, April 2024

"Even though COS is a smaller airport, give yourself extra time for security during peak hours, especially in the mornings. The lines can get long, but the staff is pretty efficient." — Sarah L., Falcon, CO, May 2024

    Baggage

"Baggage claim is super easy to navigate here. Just remember that American, Delta, and United use Baggage Claim Area 1, while Frontier and Allegiant use Area 2. It’s well-marked, so you won’t get lost." — Tom H., Security-Widefield, CO, June 2024

"If you’re traveling with kids, the baggage claim area has plenty of space for strollers and luggage carts. It’s a family-friendly setup, which makes things less stressful." — Jessica P., Black Forest, CO, July 2024

    Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)

Passengers departing from COS Airport will find security checkpoints located on the upper level of the main terminal. There are two security checkpoints, one on the east side and one on the west side of the terminal. Both checkpoints are equipped with advanced security screening technology to ensure the safety of all passengers and their belongings.

    Fast Track Lanes and Locations

For passengers who want to expedite the security screening process, the airport offers TSA PreCheck lanes. These lanes are located at both security checkpoints in the main terminal. TSA PreCheck allows eligible passengers to enjoy a faster and more efficient screening experience, without having to remove their shoes, belts, or light jackets. Additionally, passengers who are members of the CLEAR program can use the dedicated CLEAR lane at the east security checkpoint to bypass the regular security lines.

    Passport & Immigration Control Locations

COS does not have any international flights, so there are no passport or immigration control locations at the airport. However, passengers who are traveling internationally from other airports should ensure they have all necessary travel documents and visas before departing. It is recommended to arrive at the airport at least two hours before an international flight to allow enough time for check-in, security screening, and any necessary immigration procedures at the destination airport.

    TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints

At Colorado Springs Municipal Airport, TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints are available to help expedite the security screening process for passengers. TSA Pre Check is a program that allows eligible passengers to enjoy a faster and more convenient screening experience by using dedicated lanes and not having to remove certain items from their carry-on bags. To apply for TSA Pre Check, passengers can visit the TSA website and complete an online application. TSA Pre Check is available at select airports across the United States, including COS.
