Getting Around the Airport
Columbia Metropolitan Airport is a commercial airport and is the principal airport for the Midlands region of South Carolina as well as for Columbia.
The CAE airport is located at a distance of eight km or five miles from southwest of Columbia, in Lexington County as surrounded by the towns of Pine Ridge, Springdale, and South Congaree, and the city of Cayce.
For UPS airlines, the CAE airport is considered as the regional cargo hub.
Main Terminal
The terminal building structure at the CAE airport has one main terminal building which houses all airport facilities. It has two main levels.
Level 1 houses the baggage claim carousels towards the left and a baggage service area. Services and amenities on this level include Car Rental Area, Restrooms, Ft. Jackson Welcome Area, Carolina Room, and Commuter Gates.
Level 2 houses a Ticketing Area, Airline Gates and Gate Podiums. Security checkpoints and USO are also found here. Services and amenities on this level include Shopping Area, Restaurant Areas, Airline Waiting Areas, Restrooms, and Skycaps.

Food, Shops & Amenities
There are various shopping and dining options in the CAE airport. For dining there is The Skybar Café and Runway Food Court and Red Eye Express Coffee, and for shopping there is The Paradies Shops/ PGA Store.
Terminal Tips
- Passengers are advised to arrive at least 2 hours before their scheduled departure time to account for TSA security wait times and any possible delays.
- To ensure a smooth check-in process, passengers should pack carry-on luggage in a suitable manner, have photo ID ready, and read all the airline guidelines properly prior to arriving at the airport.
- No unattended baggage will be allowed inside the terminal building. You must keep your bags with you at all times.
