Getting Around the Airport
The terminal building structure at the GYY airport, located at a 25-mile distance from downtown Chicago, consists of one main passenger terminal which houses all airport facilities.
Main Terminal
The airport passenger terminal comes with an upgraded runway which caters mostly to weekend flyers. It offers upgraded and expanded passenger facilities, three gates, new ticket counters, a concession area, an automated baggage retrieval, ATM & vending machines, is handicap accessible, and has a newly expanded ground vehicle access. On-site rental cars are available from Enterprise & Hertz.
Security Checkpoints
The security checkpoints at GYY airport are monitored by the Federal TSA - Transportation Security Administration. Only passengers possessing tickets are allowed to proceed beyond any of the security checkpoints. All security checkpoints provide access to the concourses and airplane gates.

Terminal Tips
- Arrive 90 minutes before flight time in case of domestic flights, and two hours before flight time in case of international flights.
- When traveling with kids, keep items to keep them busy and engaged such as games, laptops, books, snacks, or others depending on their interest.
- Keep an itinerary at home for your family and friends to be able to reach you in case of any emergencies.
