Getting Around the Airport
Harrisburg International Airport ranks as the third largest airport of Pennsylvania. The MDT airport serves thirteen cities and carries out one-stop flights to places around the world. It operates non-stop and daily.
MDT Airport is located in Lower Swatara Township - 8 miles southeast of the central business district of Harrisburg - with clearly-marked access to Interstate Hwys. 83 and 283, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, SR 230 and the Capital Beltway.
With 1.1 million passengers in 2016, and a long runway, Harrisburg International Airport is served by major airlines offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe.
The terminal building structure at the MDT airport has one main terminal building which houses all airport facilities. It has three main levels.
The First Level houses the ticket counters towards the right, baggage claim towards the left, and information. From left to right there are ticketing counters for American, United, Delta, Frontier, and Allegiant Airlines. In the centre there is a Police Station, Restrooms, and Oversized Bag Drop. Near the baggage claim carousels there is an Information Desk. Elevators/escalators and restrooms are located at several places on this level.
The Second Level houses the security checkpoint leading up to the arriving passengers and gates as well as the concessions. The terminal gates include Gate A1-3, Gate B1-6, and Gate C1-3. Near Gate B2 there is Mamava Nursing / Pumping Pod. Elevators/escalators and restrooms are located at several places on this level.
The Third Level houses Administration Offices, Conference Room, and Observation Deck.

Food, Shops & Amenities
There are various shopping and dining options in the HPN airport. For dining there is Phillips Seafood and Subway in Concourse A, Starbucks and Capital Coffee in Concourse B, and Auntie Anne’s and Dunkin’ Donuts in Concourse C. Vending machine is located on the first level of the terminal, right next to the Information Desk. For shopping there is Sensory Massage Studio in Concourse A, Hudson News in Concourse B, and a Food Court housing Hudson News.
- Passengers are advised to arrive at least 2 hours before their scheduled departure time to account for TSA security wait times and any possible delays.
- To ensure a smooth check-in process, passengers should pack carry-on luggage in a suitable manner, have photo ID ready, and read all the airline guidelines properly prior to arriving at the airport.
- No unattended baggage will be allowed inside the terminal building. You must keep your bags with you at all times.
