Connecting Between Terminals

PVR Airport has a single terminal building that houses both domestic and international flights. The terminal is divided into two levels, with arrivals on the lower level and departures on the upper level. The airport is easy to navigate, and passengers can move between the two levels using the escalators or elevators located throughout the terminal.

If you need to transfer to another flight, you will not need to change terminals, as all flights depart from the same building. However, if you have a layover and need to leave the airport, you can take a taxi or shuttle bus from the terminal to your destination. Taxis are available outside the terminal building, and shuttle buses can be booked in advance or upon arrival.

"The airport is just a 15-minute drive from downtown Puerto Vallarta. I recommend using authorized airport taxis for a hassle-free experience. They’re reliable and have fixed rates." — Luis R., Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, October 2023

"For a cheaper option, take the local bus. It’s very affordable and stops right outside the terminal. Just make sure you have some pesos on hand." — Ana P., Bucerías, Nayarit, July 2023

Parking

Picking Up and Dropping Off Passengers

At PVR, passengers can be picked up and dropped off at the curbside of the terminal buildings. However, there are restrictions on curbside parking, and vehicles are not allowed to wait or park at the curbside for more than a few minutes. This is to ensure that the traffic flow is not disrupted and to prevent congestion at the terminal buildings.

For those who need to wait for arriving passengers, there are designated cell-phone waiting areas available at the airport. These areas are free of charge and are located near the terminal buildings. Drivers can park their vehicles in these areas and wait for their passengers to arrive before proceeding to the curbside for pick-up. This is a convenient option for those who do not want to circle the airport or pay for parking while waiting for their passengers.

Parking Facilities & Options

When it comes to parking at PVR Airport, travelers have several options to choose from. The airport offers both covered and uncovered parking options, with a total of four parking lots and garages located within walking distance of the terminal.

For those who are waiting to pick up arriving passengers, there is a cell phone waiting area located just outside the airport entrance. This area allows drivers to wait in their vehicles until their passengers are ready to be picked up, without having to pay for parking or circle the airport endlessly.

Handicapped parking is available in all of the airport's parking lots and garages, with designated spaces located close to the terminal for easy access.

For those looking for a more economical parking option, off-airport parking is available near the airport. These lots offer shuttle service to and from the terminal, making it a convenient option for travelers who don't mind a short ride to the airport.

Transportation Options

The airport offers a variety of ground transportation options to get you to your final destination:

  • Car Rentals: Car rental facilities are available at the airport, with major providers such as Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National. It is advisable to book your car rental in advance, especially during peak travel times, to ensure availability.
  • Taxis: Taxis are readily available with designated drop-off areas outside the terminal. Fares are fixed and posted at the airport, so you can be sure of the cost before you get in. The ride to downtown Puerto Vallarta typically takes around 15-20 minutes.
  • Ride-Share Services: Shared ride services are available, with pickup areas located outside the terminal. However, it is important to note that these services may have restrictions on luggage and the number of passengers. Be sure to check the app for specific details and availability.

Fares for shuttles vary depending on the destination, so it is best to check with the shuttle provider for specific pricing.
